Disney Guests Have Until September 4 Before ‘Snow White’ Ride Closes
Disney guests are running out of time to ride this Snow White attraction.
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs has been part of Disney theme parks since the beginning. Disneyland opened Snow White’s Adventures in 1955, making the dark ride one of the original attractions available when Walt Disney welcomed guests to the park.
That version changed significantly over the decades. Disney renamed it Snow White’s Scary Adventures in 1983 before giving the attraction another major overhaul ahead of its 2021 reopening as Snow White’s Enchanted Wish.
The newer version added updated effects, new scenes, and a less frightening ending. It also marked another step away from the much darker Snow White attractions Disney once operated.
Magic Kingdom had its own version for more than 40 years. Snow White’s Scary Adventures opened with the Florida park in 1971 but permanently closed in 2012, with Princess Fairytale Hall later taking over the space.
Other versions remain in operation outside the United States, including Blanche-Neige et les Sept Nains at Disneyland Paris and Snow White’s Adventures at Tokyo Disneyland.
One of those rides is now about to go temporarily offline.
September 4 Marks the Final Day Before Closure
Tokyo Disneyland guests have until September 4 before Snow White’s Adventures closes for refurbishment.
According to Tokyo Disney Resort, the attraction will be unavailable beginning September 4 and is currently scheduled to reopen on September 23, 2026.
That gives the Fantasyland ride a closure period of less than three weeks.
There is no indication that Disney is preparing to permanently remove the attraction or carry out a major reimagining. The relatively short closure window instead points to routine maintenance and refurbishment work.
Snow White’s Adventures has operated at Tokyo Disneyland since the park opened on April 15, 1983.
The roughly 2.5-minute attraction takes guests through scenes inspired by Disney’s 1937 animated film, with riders traveling aboard four-person mine cars.
Its story includes the Seven Dwarfs, the forest, and the Evil Queen disguised as an old witch as she attempts to give Snow White the poisoned apple.
Tokyo Disneyland’s version is particularly notable because it has retained much more of the ominous tone associated with earlier Snow White attractions.
Disneyland’s California ride moved away from that approach during its 2021 transformation, while Magic Kingdom’s version disappeared entirely more than a decade ago.
That leaves Tokyo Disneyland with one of the few remaining examples of Disney’s older Snow White dark ride format.
Snow White Joins a Longer List of Ride Closures
The September refurbishment comes during a period in which several Tokyo Disney Resort attractions are unavailable.
At Tokyo Disneyland, Dumbo the Flying Elephant has been closed since January and is currently expected to reopen in October.
Beaver Brothers Explorer Canoes and Haunted Mansion are also experiencing periods of closure, with the latter undergoing its annual holiday transformation.
Swiss Family Treehouse has remained unavailable for considerably longer, having been closed since 2022.
Multiple attractions are also out of action at Tokyo DisneySea.
Indiana Jones Adventure: Temple of the Crystal Skull has now been closed for more than a year, while the DisneySea Transit Steamer Line at Mediterranean Harbor is also unavailable.
The closures come as Tokyo Disney Resort continues investing heavily in newer attractions.
Tokyo DisneySea opened Fantasy Springs in 2024, adding major new areas based on Frozen, Tangled, and Peter Pan.
Tokyo Disneyland is also preparing for future changes, including a Wreck-It Ralph-themed attraction that will replace Buzz Lightyear’s Astro Blasters and a new version of Space Mountain.
