If your coffee starts trembling, it’s not an earthquake—it’s Jurassic World Rebirth, which will be stomping into theaters on July 2, 2025.

Scarlett Johansson stars as Zora Bennett, a covert ops expert navigating a tropical island filled with prehistoric danger. Accompanying her are Mahershala Ali’s Duncan Kincaid, her trusted second in command, and Jonathan Bailey’s Dr. Henry Loomis, the franchise’s new paleontologist. Their goal? Secure DNA from three colossal dinosaurs But when they stumble upon a stranded family and a sinister secret, naturally, things go awry.

The film takes place five years after the latest sequel, Jurassic World Dominion (2022). The plot promises encounters with predators spanning land, sea, and sky. But will we also see familiar beasts like T-Rex, or will Jurassic World Rebirth ditch iconic dinos for new ones?

In a recent exclusive interview with Empire Magazine, director Gareth Edwards says that the film will feature “new things”, referring to never-before-seen dinosaurs, adding that we can also expect “certain dinosaurs it would be a crime against cinema not to include.” So, in true Jurassic fashion, there will be a blend of familiar creatures and new species.

Currently best known for his work on Monsters (2010) and Godzilla (2014), Edwards also insists on grounding his dinosaurs in reality. “Dinosaurs are primal,” he says, “a tangible threat rooted in our evolutionary instincts. There’s no fobbing them off as mythical—they existed, and that’s why they terrify us.” So, no more genetic hybrids then, hopefully.

Currently in post-production, the first official trailer is imminent. Edwards’ penchant for sparing yet impactful creature reveals suggests the trailer might withhold major dinosaur scenes, leaning into suspense instead of spectacle, which would harken back to Jurassic Park’s masterful build-up of suspense, wonder, and terror.
