New ‘Jurassic World’ Series Teases Potential Links to 2025’s ‘Rebirth’
The Jurassic World franchise is growing bigger than ever. Not only is Jurassic World Rebirth set to hit theaters in 2025, but fans also have a new series, Jurassic World: Chaos Theory, to dive into on Netflix. With Season 2 now streaming, the big question on everyone’s mind is: how does Chaos Theory fit into the larger Jurassic timeline, especially with Rebirth on the horizon?
The new film, Jurassic World Rebirth, is just eight months away and has stirred major excitement. Directed by Gareth Edwards, known for Godzilla (2014) and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, the film stars Scarlett Johansson as Zora Bennett, a covert ops specialist on a mission to retrieve “genetical material from the world’s three most massive dinosaurs” on an undisclosed island. The film is still in reshoots in New York, but a trailer should be coming soon.

In the meantime, Jurassic World: Chaos Theory Season 2 offers more dinosaur action on the small screen. Picking up from the original Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous series, the new show reunites “The Nublar Six” – Darius Bowman, Kenji Kon, Ben Pincus, Yaz Fadoula, Sammy Gutierrez, and Brooklynn – as they try to uncover a global conspiracy threatening both dinosaurs and their own lives. Set one year before the events of Jurassic World Dominion (2022), Chaos Theory explores a world where dinosaurs roam freely alongside humans, adding depth to the world we’ve seen on the big screen.
So, what does all this mean for Jurassic World Rebirth? Recently, Chaos Theory showrunner Scott Kreamer spoke to ComicBookMovie.com and offered some insight. When asked if there are direct ties between Chaos Theory and Rebirth, Kreamer explained the series’ creative freedom and the “guard rails” they were given by Jurassic producers Colin Trevorrow and Frank Marshall. Here’s his full response:
“Yeah, I mean, when we started Chaos Theory, I don’t even know if they knew they were making Rebirth,” Kreamer said. “I know there wasn’t a script for it yet. So, you know, we’re given a great deal of latitude, as long as we’re not breaking film canon, and again, Colin reads every script and Frank Marshall is also involved in just making sure that we’re not doing anything that we’re not supposed to be but, I mean, the only thing that we were basically, the only guard rails, is like, basically, don’t go past Dominion, you know, don’t go way past Dominion, because they didn’t know where they were going next. So, that was sort of our only guard rail as far as that goes.”
While it’s unclear if Chaos Theory will connect directly to Jurassic World Rebirth, Kreamer’s comments suggest the show will continue building the universe without stepping too far beyond Dominion. And if Chaos Theory keeps up its momentum, it’s only a matter of time before we see it align with Rebirth’s storyline.
With Jurassic World expanding on both big and small screens, fans have plenty to look forward to. Whether through films or animated adventures, the franchise continues to evolve in exciting new directions. Watch the trailer for Chaos Theory Season 2 below:
