‘Jungle Cruise’ Star Delights Audience With Loretta Lynn Cover

For years, people around the world knew Dwayne Johnson as “The Rock” — a professional wrestler. Then, in the late 90s, he used his wrestling fame to begin acting, getting small roles in popular shows likeĀ That 70s Show,Ā The Net,Ā andĀ Star Trek: Voyager. Johnson’s career really took off in the early 2000s, and he hasn’t slowed down. He has been in hit movies likeĀ Moana, The Jungle Cruise, and most recently,Ā Black Adam.

In 2022, Johnson was actually the highest-paid actor in Hollywood.

While most people know Dwayne Johnson as a wrestler and an actor, there is something else he loves to do — sing. He was able to show off his vocal chops in 2016 when he voiced the demigod Maui in the Disney film,Ā Moana. However, there is one genre of music that Johnson absolutely adores, and you may not expect it — country music.

Johnson recently sat down for an interview with Kelly Clarkson on her daytime talk show, The Kelly Clarkson Show, where he talked about his acting career, his life, and his latest movie. Then, in true Kelly Clarkson fashion, the two teamed up for a duet of a Loretta Lynn classic — Don’t Come Home a Drinkin’.

Singing this late Loretta Lynn hit was not the first time that Johnson has expressed his love of singing country. A lot of fans may not know that he lived in Nashville for a time, where his love of the music genre exploded.

A lilā€™ flashback to the iconic honky tonk I used to hang out in when I was 15 years old.
The one and onlyĀ @tootsies_orchid_loungeĀ ??

I grew up loving traditional country, blues and hip hop – but when I was 15 living in a lilā€™ motel room in Nashville – just me and a buddy of mine – I thought I could be a decent country music singer to make a little money not be broke ? ?

A woman heard me singing in a grocery store (true story) and told me I should go down to Broad street and try and sing in one of the honky tonks to get noticed.

So thatā€™s what I did.

Keep in mind I was 15, but I actually looked 57 ???ā€ā™‚ļø

One night at a one of country bars, I bought a car from a crackhead for $40 bucks (original agreement was $75:) – and that beat up Thunderbird turned out to be stolen, of course – and about a month later we were forced out of Nashville.

Wound up moving to the great Commonwealth of Pennsylvania (Bethlehem) where I would FINALLY, get my wayward ass on the right track to become a productive young man.

And though my 15yr old dream of become a country music legend, never came true… years later, my buddy – the GOAT Willie Nelson would gift me my very first guitar.

Which I learned to play pretty well. Didnā€™t matter anyway because I proudly sing in raspy keys that donā€™t exist
