Pedro Pascal has captured the hearts of America playing the titular role on The Mandalorian. We’ve all fallen in love with Baby Yoda (yes, yes, his name is Grogu we know, but we like Baby Yoda better so that’s what it shall be). Mando (aka Din Dijarin), though, has captured hearts in a very different way, as the official Star Wars TikTok awkwardly pointed out. Fans love Pedro Pascal as the Beskar-clad bounty hunter with a soft spot.
The end of season 3 though seemed like the end of the line for Mando and Baby Yoda. The season finale saw them relaxing on Dijarin’s homestead free from the constant pursuit that dogged them up until this point. We finally get to see Dijarin and Grogu have the happy ending they deserve.
The ending of this chapter marks the probable exit of Pedro Pascal from the series. After all, the dark Saber is destroyed so that it will never end up in the wrong hands, Gideon and his clone army are defeated and Din Dijarin and his foundling are finally safe and sound. Where could his story arc possibly go from here? That’s a rhetorical question LucasFilm, not a challenge (we have to be specific considering Emperor Palpatine somehow was a part of The Rise of Skywalker despite dying decades earlier).
Even more evidence that Pascal’s time is up on The Mandalorian is his extremely busy film schedule. The beloved actor has several big projects in the works and it’s hard to see him continuing in the role of Din Dijarin since that storyline has been so neatly wrapped up.
Does that mean the most popular show on Disney+ is over for good? After all, what is a show without its star? Inside the Magic recently wondered this as well and came up with an interesting possibility. Din Dijarin isn’t the only Mandalorian out there. The show could easily pivot to follow another Mando through some daring adventure through the galaxy. It wouldn’t be the first time a show rebooted itself with a totally different storyline and cast (hey, it works for American Horror Story doesn’t it?)
Only time will tell what’s next for the actor, the series, and our beloved Baby Yoda. You just never know with Star Wars. With LucasFilm’s habit of interweaving storyline and characters across multiple shows and films it’s very likely we haven’t seen the last of this dynamic duo.
