On June 30, 2023, Harrison Ford will take to the screen one final time as famed archaeologist Dr. Henry “Indiana” Jones in the film Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. Ford has been playing Indiana Jones since 1981 and has returned for a total of five films in the hit franchise. Even though he loves playing Dr. Jones, Ford — who is now 80 years old — made it clear that this most recent film was the last time that he will don his classic fedora.

There have been many rumors about who might replace Ford as the franchise lead, but director James Mangold is hearing none of it.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny will, in addition to Ford, will also feature Fleabag actress Phoebe Waller-Bridge as Helena. Many believe that she will be replacing Ford, but Mangold shut those rumors down.

One more time. No one is “taking over” or replacing Indy or donning his hat nor is he being “erased” thru some contrivance— and he never was, not not in any cut or script — but trolls will troll — that’s how they get their clicks. 1/

And please don’t exhaust me pointing out how once in a while a troll is “right”. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut now & then. All one has to do is look at set photos & interviews & u get enough info to make wild guesses about a movie plot. 2/

The diff between trolling a-holes & everyone else is they r trying to make $ off your feelings about other films & culture war politics. They push contoversial guesses as coming from “sources” to gin up clicks. Let it go. END

In the film, Waller-Bridge’s character Helena is the goddaughter of Indiana Jones. Together, in 1969, they fight against the Nazis against the backdrop of the Space Race. CGI was used to de-age Ford and make him look younger. Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny will also star Antonio Banderas, Toby Jones, and Mads Mikkelsen.

Earlier this year, at Disney’s D23 Expo in Anaheim, California, Ford got emotional talking about his last Indiana Jones film and showed the small audience an exclusive clip. Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny will hit theaters on June 30, 2023.
