For more than a decade, an untitled Indiana Jones 5 has been in the works. When George Lucas — the creator of Indiana Jones — sold LucasFilm to The Walt Disney Company, the fifth project was passed on to the new LucasFilm president, Kathleen Kennedy. For a few years, Disney and Kennedy were mum on the project, then, in 2015, Kennedy confirmed that the House of Mouse would indeed be making the fifth film. Harrison Ford also confirmed that he would be returning as the famous archaeologist.
Finally, this year, Ford revealed that Disney would be releasing the film in June 2023. Ford seemed incredibly proud of the project, telling audiences that it would “kick your ass”. Even though we do know a release date, we don’t know much about the new film, just that it will star Ford, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Toby Jones, Antonio Banderas, Thomas Kretschmann, and Mads Mikkelsen.
After years of waiting and months of anticipation, we may get a first look at the new film soon rather than later. Indiana Jones 5 director James Mangold recently revealed that a new look could be coming in a matter of days or weeks. A trailer was revealed at this year’s D23 Expo, but it was exclusive and has not been made public yet.
@mang0ld When can we expect the next promotional piece for Indy 5?

Indiana Jones 5 will be the first Indiana Jones movie not written by George Lucas and directed by Steven Spielberg. However, Kennedy has a lot of faith in Mangold and has shared how happy she is with what he has been able to create.
“James Mangold has done an unbelievable job with Indy and he and Harrison [Ford] have an incredible relationship and I think the fans are just going to love what he’s created. It’s fantastic.”
Mangold also released a statement, saying how thrilled he was to be a part of such an iconic franchise.
“I’m thrilled to be starting a new adventure, collaborating with a dream team of all-time great filmmakers. Steven, Harrison, Kathy, Frank, and John are all artistic heroes of mine. When you add Phoebe, a dazzling actor, brilliant creative voice, and the chemistry she will undoubtedly bring to our set, I can’t help but feel as lucky as Indiana Jones himself.”
News of a possible trailer comes on the heels of reports that test screenings of Indiana Jones 5 have not gone well. The reports state that test audiences have not been thrilled with the film’s ending and have been shown several. Disney has not responded to those reports, and the movie is still scheduled to be released on time.
There are also reports that Disney is considering continuing the story and is developing an Indiana Jones series for Disney+.Â
