Guns at Disney World? Viral Video Shocks Fans
We live in incredibly unsettling times, but one thing that has always remained steadfast is that Walt Disney World is a safe place to go. Disney wants guests to feel as safe and comfortable as possible. That’s why they utilize metal detectors, security guards, and even officers from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
One viral video is now making guests wonder if the theme parks are as safe as they think they are.

Mouse Trap News recently shared a video of men visiting Walt Disney World with large guns. They were seen in the Magic Kingdom.
@mousetrapnews What do you think of this controversial move by Disney? #disneyworld #disneynews #opencarry #disneysecurity #disneyparks
Thankfully, the video is fake. For those who are unfamiliar with the site, Mouse Trap News is a satirical website. Think of it as The Onion for Disney fans. The site used Florida’s new, relaxed gun laws to create an article that stated guns were now being allowed.
This means that any guests entering Disney World can now carry a gun. Also, it doesn’t need to be concealed as many states require. That’s right, you may see a guest walking down Main Street USA with a pistol on their hip or even a shotgun across their back. It’s worth noting that Disney will not allow RPGs under their new open carry laws.
Guns at Disney Becoming a Problem
While the video might be fake and satirical, that does not mean that Disney World doesn’t have a problem with guns. It seems that we are constantly hearing about guests who try to bring guns into the theme parks.
On January 9, an 18-year-old man was arrested when he tried to bring a gun into the Disneyland Paris Resort. The man was caught when he tried to get onto a Disney bus. However, the gun ended up being fake. The man told police that he kept the fake gun on his person as a protective measure.

Back in April 2022, a 15-year-old and his mother were detained when a gun was found underneath juice boxes and candy in the boy’s backpack. The boy and his mother — who were trying to enter Animal Kingdom Park at Walt Disney World — claimed that they had no idea the gun was in there. They both claimed that the boy had borrowed the backpack from his sister. The gun ended up being stolen from a woman in Alabama.
Those are just a couple of instances that we have reported on in recent years. In 2020, 20 guests were arrested after being caught with guns on Disney property.
Guns are Definitely NOT Allowed
Florida is pretty lax when it comes to its gun laws. A new law, passed in 2023, allows anyone who can legally carry a gun to conceal one without a permit. However, they must carry a valid ID and are not allowed to take the gun across state lines.
It is very important to note that, despite Florida’s open carry laws, there are absolutely no weapons allowed on Walt Disney World Resort property. That includes guns, knives, pepper spray, and more.
Should a guest try to bring a weapon onto the property, they will most likely be swiftly removed. For something like pepper spray, cast members will typically ask the guest to surrender the item or return it to their vehicle.

“…. are not allowed to take the gun across state lines.” Complete nonsense!

“….despite Florida’s open carry laws…” Also BS, in Florida, public open carry is limited to hiking, fishing, hunting, etc. There is no general public open carry in Florida.
