The Disney Skyliner has quickly become an iconic part of the Walt Disney World Resort experience. This charming gondola system provides a unique and scenic way to travel between key destinations, including EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. It also offers convenient connections to the Caribbean Beach Resort, the Riviera Resort, Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, and Disney’s Pop Century Resort.

Why the Disney Skyliner is a Fan Favorite

Each gondola on the Disney Skyliner can comfortably seat up to 10 passengers, making it a fantastic alternative to waiting for a Disney bus after a magical day at the parks. The Skyliner offers breathtaking views of EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, and the picturesque Disney’s Boardwalk Resort, enhancing the journey with a touch of Disney magic.

Recent Disruption: A False Alarm

However, the Disney Skyliner system faced an unexpected hiccup recently. On a busy Saturday night, shortly after EPCOT’s closing, there was a temporary scare at the Caribbean Beach Skyliner Station. Reports indicated that the station was evacuated and the Reedy Creek Fire Department was called to the scene.

A video circulating on social media captured guests gathering near the Skyliner station as the Reedy Creek Fire Department responded. Despite initial concerns, it appears there was no actual fire. Disney has not officially commented on the incident, and major Central Florida news outlets have not reported any fire-related issues with the Skyliner.

A Recent History of False Alarms

This incident follows another unsettling situation from earlier in the week at Magic Kingdom. There, a noise that was mistaken for a gunshot—a popping balloon—triggered a stampede toward the exits. Fortunately, Walt Disney World security quickly determined there was no active threat, but the chaos resulted in some injuries and damage, as shown by guests on social media.

Skyliner Status and Safety

Despite these recent scares, the Disney Skyliner system is operating normally. According to the MyDisney Experience App, all stations are up and running, and the gondola system has resumed its usual service without any reported issues. Guests can continue to enjoy the convenience and scenic views provided by the Skyliner while traveling to their Walt Disney World Resort hotels.

The Magic Continues

The Disney Skyliner remains a popular and enjoyable way for guests to travel around the resort. While recent events may have caused a temporary stir, they have not impacted the overall safety and efficiency of the Skyliner system. As always, Disney’s commitment to guest safety and enjoyment ensures that any disruptions are managed swiftly and effectively.

  1. We were in the middle of Rise of the Resistance when it went down. We were evacuated behind the scenes (even caught a glimpse of the employee break room), which was actually kind of fun!
