There are just over 100 days left until election day 2024, and it’s hard to turn on the news without seeing something related to President Joe Biden or Donald Trump. On June 27, the two candidates faced off in a heated presidential debate moderated by CNN news anchors Jake Tapper and Dada Bash.
To say that the debate was not well-received would be an understatement. Everyone who participated is receiving a ton of criticism. Donald Trump was called out for making more than 30 false statements. Tapper and Bash were criticized for not fact-checking the former President, and Joe Biden has been dealing with the fallout from his poor performance.

Throughout the debate, President Biden mumbled many of his responses and did not seem as forceful as Trump. While he was commended for the amount of substance he put in his answers, many worried that he didn’t appear Presidential. In the days since the debate, Biden and his team have been doing damage control, assuring voters that he is the right man for the job.
On July 5, President Biden sat down with Good Morning America news anchor George Stephanopoulos for a one-on-one interview. During the interview, Stephanopoulos asked the President the questions that were on everyone’s minds. While President Biden answered the questions, some supporters still weren’t completely satisfied.

And it seems that neither was George Stephanopoulos.
On July 9, Stephanopoulos was out for a run in New York City when a pedestrian stopped him. The person asked the legendary news anchor if he thought Biden should step down, saying, “You’ve talked to him more than anybody else has lately.”
Stephanopoulos shockingly said, “I don’t think he can serve four more years.”
Stephanopoulos’s comments quickly went viral. ABC News anchors are known for their impartiality, and the Good Morning America anchors were anything but.
Just hours after the video of his comments was published on TMZ, Stephanopoulos released a statement apologizing for what he said.
Earlier today, I responded to a question from a passerby. I shouldn’t have.”
An ABC spokesperson said that while Mr. Stephanopoulos was voicing his opinion, it was “not the position of ABC News.”
Do you think George Stephanopoulos’s comments were unprofessional? Let us know in the comments.
It’s a joke to say ABC is non partisan but that aside, someone asked George his opinion. I’m not a huge George fan however to criticize someone for the opinion they provide when it is requested seems inappropriate to me. It’s when ABS tries to pass off their opinions as facts that I get annoyed. Cut the man some slack, he is a citizen first and should be allowed to have an opinion just like anyone else.
Give George credit for being honest. As for the apology he wasn’t “on the clock” and shouldn’t have to. If he said that directly to Biden during that interview maybe so.
