For six years, ABC viewers could tune into Good Morning America and watch cohost Amy Robach inform them of all the news they needed to know. In 2018, Robach moved on from GMA and teamed up with David Muir to host the popular weekly investigative news show, 20/20. Then, in 2020, she became one of the hosts of Pandemic: What You Need to Know, where she kept viewers apprised of the latest news involving the devastating COVID-19 pandemic. Two years later, she became a permanent host on GMA3: What You Need to Know.

Not long after Amy Robach became one of the hosts of GMA3, she was joined by T.J. Holmes, who had been with ABC since 2014. The two had natural chemistry on camera, and viewers loved them. However, in 2022, it was announced that the two were being suspended for the romantic relationship they had off-camera.

In December 2022, a bombshell report revealed that Robach and Holmes were having an affair. The problem was that, at the time, Robach was married to actor Andrew Shue, and T.J. Holmes was married to Marilee Fiebig. After much speculation, the two confirmed their relationship, but said that it did not begin until the two had separated from their spouses.

In the end, both Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes were fired from their jobs on GMA3 and were replaced by Eva Pilgrim and DeMarco Morgan. Months later, they announced that they would be starting a new podcast, where they would talk about their time at ABC, as well as the relationship that nearly cost them everything. When the podcast launched, Robach said that, while she missed the people she worked with, she did not miss her job.

However, it seems that now, she might be changing her tune.

According to an exclusive report from inTouch, Robach is working hard to convince ABC to give her back her job at Good Morning America.

“Amy is lobbying hard for her return,” after seeing an opportunity with the recent the exit of medical correspondent and coanchor Dr. Jennifer Ashton, a source tells In Touch exclusively.

“She believes her familiar presence could help stabilize the show,” the insider adds about her returning to the ABC morning show.

If the source is accurate, now could be the perfect time for Robach to launch a campaign for her return. ABC News is going through a somewhat tumultuous time.

Kim Goodwin is the president of ABC News and the one who ultimately decided to terminate Holmes and Robach. But it seems that her job could be coming to an end soon as well. Reports indicate that Disney — which owns ABC — brought on Debra OConnell to oversee how things are running at the network.

And she does not have good things to report.

The reports indicate that OConnell is not pleased with Goodwin’s performance. OConnell is allegedly shocked at how hands-off Goodwin is, which has allowed numerous problems to fester. Goodwin has laid off high-ranking people within the news organization but has not replaced them, which has led to more problems.

One of those problems recently made headlines. On April 30, longtime Good Morning America and World News Tonight meteorologist Rob Marciano was suddenly fired from the network. While viewers were shocked, those who worked at the network were not. Reports stated that Marciano had not been allowed at the GMA studio in more than a year, due to making coworkers feel uncomfortable and serious anger management issues.

For years, ABC News was at the top of the news ratings. Since Goodwin took over, ABC News has fallen and is now underperforming, with rival CBS coming out on top.

Despite the ongoing issues at ABC, the anonymous source said that it is unlikely Robach will return to the network. The source said that ABC, “would essentially need to acknowledge they made a mistake” when they fired her. That is not something the source thinks ABC would be willing to do.

Amy Robach has not responded to the report from inTouch.
