For years, when it comes to creating content, Disney has found a lot of success with its live-action remakes, from Beauty and the Beast to Aladdin, Cinderella, and Mulan. Fans flock to the theaters to see some of their favorite animated characters come to life on the big screen. With the success of live-action remakes, Disney continues to make them, and one of the ones coming out relatively soon is the famous story of the toy puppet that comes to life — Pinocchio.
Pinocchio was first released as an animated film in 1940 by Walt Disney Studios, and it was a groundbreaking film. While it was not Disney’s first animated film, it was the first Disney animated film to win a competitive Oscar — Snow White had only won honorary Oscars. Fans immediately fell in love with Gepetto and his desire to have a son. Jiminy Cricket was the cutest conscious you could ask for, and it also sent a message to kids (albeit a scary one) that parents aren’t always wrong, and they do what they do to keep you safe.
With all of the success of the original Pinocchio, it is no surprise that it was high up on the list for live-action remakes. Disney announced the remake all the way back in 2015, but the project had several setbacks, especially the pandemic. However, the film is complete and ready to be released. While Disney has only announced that the film should premiere sometime in September, they have now shared an official teaser trailer!
Take a look below at the teaser, shared on Twitter by Discussing Film! An official trailer will premiere on Good Morning America on May 31.

Entertainment Weekly shared more about what we can expect from the new movie.
Directed by Robert Zemeckis, Pinocchio is the latest live-action update in the Disney canon. It also stars Joseph Gorden-Levitt as Jiminy Cricket, Pinocchio’s conscience and one of Disney animation’s most enduring creations.
Cynthia Erivo also stars as the Blue Fairy, who answers Geppetto’s wish to make Pinocchio a real boy, and Keegan-Michael Key will portray “Honest” John, a bad influence in the impressionable young Pinocchio’s life. Lorraine Bracco joins the cast as a new character, Sofia the Seagull, and Luke Evans will portray a mysterious figure known as The Coachman.
The Pinocchio live-action remake is not the only classic remake coming out this year on Disney+ this year. Disney is also putting a twist on its classic Peter Pan and will release a new film, Peter Pan & Wendy.
