Do the math, because, on Memorial Day weekend 2023, a Disney/ Pixar classic was released to the public and the world would never be the same. Finding Nemo made its theatrical debut on May 30, 2003.

Finding Nemo follows the journey of clownfish Marlin who desperately searches for his son Nemo. Nemo was taken from the Great Barrier Reef and placed in a fish tank in a dentist’s office in Sydney. Along the way, Marlin meets a fish with short-term memory loss named Dory. Together they navigate the dangerous waters encountering sharks, jellyfish, and turtles. Eventually, Marlin and Dory successfully rescue Nemo with the help of a group of fish in the tank, and make their way back to the Great Barrier Reef.
Pixar Animation
According to Box Office Mojo by IMDb, the animated underwater feature made just under $900 million worldwide. It stars the voice talents of Alexander Gould as little Nemo, Albert Brooks as father Marlin, Ellen DeGeneres as forgetful Dory, and Andrew Stanton as the totally tubular Crush and the film’s director!
Finding Nemo spurred a successful spin-off/ sequel called Finding Dory (2016) that followed the amnesiac blue tang fish Dory to find her parents. Director Stanton feels Finding Dory was the “missing [emotional] piece” to the first and doesn’t necessarily expect there to be any future installments of the story.
Currently, Disney Parks Guests can enjoy Pixar Animation Studios’ Finding Nemo in person! At Walt Disney World’s Animal Kingdom theme park, a stage musical adaptation of the story called Finding Nemo: The Big Blue… and Beyond! plays daily. At EPCOT there is a ride called The Seas with Nemo & Friends and a popular interactive attraction named Turtle Talk With Crush! Disneyland Resort also has Turtle Talk With Crush as well as the Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage.
