The excitement over the next season of The MandalorianĀ is becoming more palpable as we get closer and closer to the end of the year. That’s because Season 3 of Jon Favreau’s now-canonĀ Star Wars-inspired series is set to hit Disney+ in early 2022.
And the rumor mill just keeps churning up the waters. Last week, there was talk of the upcoming Season 3 being the last of the uber popular series written by Jon Favreau and starring Pablo Pascal, Giancarlo Esposito, Carl Weathers, Ming-Na Wen, Werner Herzog, Taika Waititi and Dave Filoni, among others.
And now, it would seem we have skipped over that little tidbit completely. Now there’s talk of the series having a title change at the completion of Season 4.
Jordan Maison, Editor-in-Chief at Cinelinx, says it’s possible thatĀ The Mandalorian morphs into another series after Season 4 and is subsequently given a new title.
RE: #TheMandalorian stuff going around. Haven't heard about it ending at season 3 (I've been hearing 4th season), but there's an "end" planned. If it ends, I've also heard it'll just morph into a "new" show that sticks with the characters/time period, but under a new name.

And apparently, it’s not really a long shot. According to Morgan Ambrose at thedirect.com, changing the name of the series fromĀ The MandalorianĀ toĀ Mandalore or a similar name, would be plausible and logical, as the narrative of the series evolves. Ambrose writes:
“It makes a lot of sense for the show to change names as the narrative ramps up. When the series began, “The Mandalorian” referred to its faceless lead, a character who was almost more a suit of armor than a person. As the show has evolved, though, so has Din Djarin, andĀ the man who took off his helmet for GroguĀ in the Season 2 finale is an extremely different one than the one who set out bounty hunting in the opening of Season 1.
There’s also the point that Din now wields the Darksaber, and with it, potentially has a claim to the title of “Mand’alor”/”Mandalore” that Katee Sackhoff’s Bo Katan Kryze has sought to regain. It’s quite likely that Season 3 will feature Bo Katan’s war to retake the Mandalorian homeworld,Ā and drama is sure to ensue between her and Din regarding his possession of the Darksaber.”
Fans can hold out to see whether the title change comes after Season 4. Right now, they want to know what Season 3 will be about.
When asked about the plot for the upcoming season, Dave Filoni‘s response only left us with more questions.
“There’s a lot of new adventures coming up,” he said. “I have to be careful; I can’t really say anything specific, but I think the Force will be strong with [Season 3]; let’s just say that.”
