Everything We Know About Disney100 at Disney World

Disney100 is coming to Disney World! Admittedly, it feels a little weird to say that since we just finished the 50th anniversary celebration at the Walt Disney World Resort but we are excited to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Walt Disney Company in Florida! For a while it seemed like only Disneyland would get in on the fun but Disney has been slowly rolling out Disney100 at Disney World.

The celebration starts now but will really kick into high gear “later this year.” Disney has not said yet when that may be but our guess is that it’ll begin sometime in the late summer or early fall. They previously announced that EPCOT would be the epicenter of the Disney100 celebration so we suspect the party will get started once attractions ike Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana and Cominicore open.

From Treats to Experiences, and even a brand new nighttime show – Walt Disney World is going to have it all. Let’s explore what we know so far (and wonder about what we don’t know yet).

No Disney celebration is complete without food right? Specialty treats are practically a given. On May 1, 2023, you’ll be able begin the celebration at Disney Springs. Amorette’s Patisserie has created an incredibly beautiful Disney100 Petite Cake. This cake layers of vanilla chiffon, berry mousse and berry compote, all topped with a celebratory Disney100 Medallion macaron.

Disney has also promised that more treats Re coming across the resort. Disney Chef Amanda teased us with things ti come saying, “The culinary team has the wonderful opportunity to use food for storytelling,” Chef Amanda said, “We get to make special themed treats that bring guests into the story, letting them feel immersed in a tangible and very delicious way.”

EPCOT will debut a new Becons of light performance. The show, which has been extremely popular since its debut last year. Features lights on Spaceship Earth that change and seemingly dance to a musical score. Imagineers have changed it out with the theme several time. Now the show will have an all-new Disney100 theme.

Jason Read, show lighting designer principal for Walt Disney Imagineering said, “We’ve helped celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Walt Disney World,, EPCOT’s 40th and the park’s signature festivals. Now, we’re excited to have Spaceship Earth ring in the biggest celebration yet, the 100th Anniversary of the Walt Disney Company. We’re also inspired by many things from the history of the company, its characters, theme parks and shows – even the Disney100 opening logo that plays before our feature films during this anniversary,”

Read continued. “You may see homages to everything from the ‘Wonderful World of Disney’ television show opening to Mickey balloons that we sell on Main Street, U.S.A.”

You’ll find Mickey, Minnie, and all their pals sporting g brand new outfits for the celebration. Never ones to put their best foot forward, the gang in dressed to the nines in Brad new platimum outfits to celebrate Disney’s platinum anniversary. No date for this debut has been announced. Disney has said the platinum meet and greet “will take place at EPCOT later this year”. We are betting that it will take place when Cominicore opens, because a dedicated Mickey and Minnie meet and greet is planned to be a part of the new building.

Also, if you’re staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel you may just be in for an extra special surprise! The “Caravanning Around the World” RV has been all dressed up for the Platinum celebration and will be popping in and out of Resort hotels. If you’re lucky enough to catch it when it comes to your resort you’ll be treated to special imprompu character meet and greets. Just like Mickey and Minnie, these characters will be clad in new platimum inspired outfits.

This Cinderella Coach Popcorn Bucket is absolutely beautiful. I’ll admit it: I’m not a popcorn bucket person. I really just don’t get the hype, but this one is so beautiful that I can absolutely see the appeal.

How cute are these MagicBand+? From Art Deco Mickey and Minnie to Dumbos pink elephant on parade, these MagicBands are perfect! Each celebrates Disney100 in its own way, either in style and era or coloring.

Spirit jersey

What Disney special event is complete without a spirit jersey right? This one took our breath away. Usually, I’m one to sit around and really think over a purchase. I need to make sure it’s right and I really really want it before buying. Not so with this gorgeous jersey. I saw it, loved it, and bought it without hesitation. If we could change anything about this spirit jersey,  we wish Disney100 was on the front right. Instead its a stylized Dumbo. This spirit jersey is available in park and on shopDisney.com

We can’t wait to see what’s next for Diseney100 at Walt Disney World! We think that Disneyland’s Esplanade Playlist will come to the East Coast parks at some point given how it’s so well mixed between Disneykand and Disney World music. We also think that EPCOT’S new nighttime spectacular will have a historical focus in a nod to Disney100. As always, stay tuned right here at Disney Dining. When Disney releases more information, we will be sure to bring you all the details!
