One of Universal Orlando Resort’s newest Harry Potter experiences is about to go dark.
Few theme park franchises have reshaped an entire resort quite like The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Since debuting in 2010, Universal Orlando Resort has steadily expanded the franchise, turning it into one of its biggest draws and raising the bar for immersive themed entertainment.

It began with Hogsmeade at Universal Islands of Adventure, where guests could explore Hogwarts Castle and experience Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey. The land later expanded with Flight of the Hippogriff before Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure replaced Dragon Challenge (itself a rethemed version of Dueling Dragons) in 2019.
Universal Studios Florida followed in 2014 with Diagon Alley, introducing Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts. The two lands were connected by the Hogwarts Express, allowing guests to travel between parks aboard the iconic train.
Universal expanded the Wizarding World again when Epic Universe opened on May 22, 2025. Rather than revisiting Hogwarts, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter ā Ministry of Magic transports guests to wizarding Paris in the 1920s before taking them to the British Ministry of Magic.

The land features two headline attractions. Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry sends guests through the MĆ©tro-Floo into the Ministry during Dolores Umbridge’s trial, combining massive practical sets, advanced animatronics, motion simulation, and omnidirectional ride vehicles.
Its companion attraction, Le Cirque Arcanus, takes a different approach. Inspired by the Fantastic Beasts films, the live stage spectacular combines performers, puppetry, projection mapping, special effects, and magical creatures. Although it has received positive reviews from many guests, it has often been overshadowed by Battle at the Ministry.
That will soon change, as Le Cirque Arcanus is about to leave the lineup ā albeit temporarily.

Universal Confirms Temporary Closure for Le Cirque Arcanus
Universal has confirmed that Le Cirque Arcanus at Epic Universe will temporarily close beginning Sunday, June 21, 2026.
The live stage attraction is scheduled to remain unavailable through June 30 before reopening on July 1.
Universal has not announced a reason for the temporary closure. Given that it is expected to last only 10 days, the downtime appears more consistent with routine maintenance than a significant refurbishment or overhaul.
The closure leaves Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry as the only operating attraction inside The Wizarding World of Harry Potter ā Ministry of Magic until the show returns.

The temporary shutdown also joins a growing list of scheduled attraction closures across Universal Orlando Resort.
Jurassic Park River Adventure at Islands of Adventure remains closed for refurbishment and is expected to reopen in November. Pteranodon Flyers is also unavailable, with a reopening planned for July.
At Universal Studios Florida, Universal Orlando’s Horror Makeup Show is undergoing a reimagining ahead of its winter return. Po’s Kung Fu Training Camp, including Po Live!, is also expected to reopen in July, while MEN IN BLACK Alien Attack recently returned to operation with updated effects and blaster guns.
More Changes May Be Ahead for the ‘Harry Potter’ Land
The temporary closure comes as speculation continues to build around the future of Epic Universe’s Harry Potter expansion.
Earlier this year, Universal filed construction permits for an expansion pad believed to be connected to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter ā Ministry of Magic. The documents reference approximately 150,000 square feet of construction, prompting widespread speculation that another major addition could already be in development.

Universal has not confirmed what the permits relate to, and there is no indication that the temporary closure of Le Cirque Arcanus is connected to those plans.
