Emily Blunt is on the rise. The film star has become a household name with Disney fans after three fabulous performances in Disney’s Jungle Cruise (2021) alongside Dwayne Johnson, Saving Mr. Banks (2013) with Tom Hanks, and Mary Poppins Returns (2018). However, Blunt has been around Hollywood for a long time. Many fans will recall her roles in other acclaimed movies like The Devil Wears Prada (2006) and A Quiet Place (2018) with her husband, John Krasinski.
Emily Blunt, 40, married actor and director John Krasinski, 43, in 2010, who made his Disney debut as in Monsters University (2013). Although Krasinski has made a name for himself with titles like 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi (2016) and Marvel’s Dr. Strange and the Multiverse of Madness (2022). Most fans will never forget John Krasinski as Jim from The Office—the extremely popular cringe comedy adapted to the U.S. from its BBC predecessor.
Despite Emily Blunt’s relationship with Disney, recently, according to Fandomwire, the actress let it slip that her initial meeting with her husband was not the kind of fairytale experience that fans of The Office would expect. For those unfamiliar, Krasinski’s character, Jim, is in love with his paper supply company’s receptionist Pam, played by Jenn Fischer. The only problem is that Pam is engaged to a warehouse worker named Roy, played by David Denman, whom Krasinski would reunite with while filming 13 Hours: The Secrets Soldiers of Benghazi. Jim, a romantic and funny guy, must endure years of being Pam’s friend until the opportunity arises for the two to be together finally. The bond shared between Fischer and Krasinski while filming is remarkable and genuine, convincing even Blunt that the actor must be much like his onscreen character.
By a chance encounter while filming for The Office was still in production, Emily Blunt was first introduced to John Krasinski while having dinner with a friend. Following an invitation, Krasinski sat down with Blunt and shared a meal. Although the two were unaware, this chance meeting would irreversibly change their lives forever. Despite what one might expect from John Krasinski due to his excellent portrayal of Jim, the meeting was more ordinary than romantic.
“It’s kind of a sad, lame story. I was in a restaurant, he was in the restaurant. I was sitting with a mutual friend. This is our romantic comedy! This is it! Someone write it,” quoted the Golden Globe award winner.
Blunt explained that the chance meeting between the two love birds was not “love at first sight” but would make for the beginning of a very watchable romantic comedy. Interestingly enough, the couple has been offered several lead roles in romantic movies, but they typically decline as they feel their story is unique in its non-extraordinary plainness. As Fandomwire put it, “Their first encounter, which may have seemed insignificant to an outsider, lit a strong spark in their lives today.” Although Emily Blunt often downplays the romantic “fairytale-esque” idea that Krasinski rode in on a white horse and swept her off her feet, we think their origin story is adorable. Despite its regularity, their romance is hopeful and inspiring. It reminds us that love will find us even when we least expect it. I can’t think of a Disney fairytale story more magical than that.
Emily Blunt is scheduled to star in the upcoming film Oppenheimer which will premiere July 21, 2023 along with Matt Damon, Florence Pugh, and Cillian Murphy. After that, the actress plans to take a break and spend some time at her castle with her king and princesses
