When it comes to taking a Walt Disney World vacation, there are certain times of year that are busier than others. Those times of the year — typically the holiday season and summer — are known as peak season. During that time, crowds are at their highest, lines are at their longest, and no Park would be considered “not busy”. However, certain rides always have a long wait no matter what time of year because they are just that popular — think Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance at Galaxy’s Edge at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort.

A brand-new roller coaster recently opened at EPCOT at the Walt Disney World Resort — Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. Cosmic Rewind is located in the World Discovery area of the theme park, taking the place of Ellen’s Energy Adventure. It is one of the only Marvel-themed rides at the Resort, as Disney is restricted on how much Marvel representation they can have because Universal Studios still has the rights to use most of the Marvel characters at its Universal Orlando theme parks.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind has been open since Memorial Day and has proven to be incredibly popular. Not only is it EPCOT’s only roller coaster, but it also features a reverse launch. For months, lines have been long and the virtual queue has been filling up in a matter of minutes. However, summer is over and the crowds visiting The Most Magical Place on Earth have dropped significantly. That has led to the Guardians queue being virtually empty.

Twitter user Drew (@DrewDisneyDude) was recently able to ride the fun attraction and saw that the queue was practically empty — which he was shocked to see, considering how new the ride is.

Low crowds at Walt Disney World result in an empty queue for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind ?

Here is more information on Walt Disney World’s newest roller coaster:

Begin your adventure by touring the Galaxarium—a planetarium-like exhibition showcasing the similarities and differences between Xandar and Earth’s galaxies. You’ll even get to discover some of the incredible wonders of Xandar and learn about their technology.

Just as you are about to reach the culmination of the tour, everything goes sideways, and you are called into action to help the Guardians of the Galaxy. Are you ready to rock out on an awesome quest across the cosmos to save the galaxy? It’s all up to you!

This family-friendly attraction features the first ever reverse-launch on a Disney coaster and is one of the longest enclosed coasters in the world! A new innovation from Walt Disney Imagineering—this coaster rotates 360 degrees so you can focus on the action!

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is open daily. Despite the lower crowds, a virtual queue is still in place for the ride. The virtual queue opens twice per day, but Guests may only join a virtual queue once. There is currently no stand queue, but that is likely to change, just the way it has for other rides. Both Rise of the Resistance at Walt Disney World and Disneyland and WEB SLINGERS at Disney California Adventure utilized a virtual queue, but have since gone to standby queues.
