On June 4, 2021, Disney California Adventure Park celebrated the opening of its highly anticipated new land, Avengers Campus. In this new area, Guests could interact with superheroes like Thor, Captain America, Black Panther, and Iron Man. They could also eat giant food prepared at Pym Test Kitchen and watch as Doctor Strange travel into the Ancient Sanctum. It is the ultimate place for Marvel fans to visit.
In addition to the great character interactions and delicious food, there was also an exciting new ride that was a part of Avengers Campus — WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure. WEB SLINGERS is a truly interactive ride that allows Guests to shoot webs just like Spider-Man as they help him save Avengers Campus from being taken over by out-of-control Spider-Bots created by Peter Parker himself.
When the attraction opened, it operated on a solely virtual queue, just like Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance does at Disneyland Park. The virtual queue opened twice a day — once at 7 a.m. and once at noon — and boarding groups were available until they were all full. At first, the virtual queue would fill up in a matter of seconds. However, many people have now been able to ride and the virtual queue can remain open for hours if the crowds are low on certain days.
Well, it seems that Disney has noticed that the virtual queue may not be necessary to control the crowds who are trying to get to WEB SLINGERS. Scott Gustin shared on Twitter that Disney is ending the WEB SLINGERS virtual queue and will now be operating on a traditional standby queue, using the virtual queue only when crowds are particularly high.
Update: WEB SLINGERS will move to a standby queue starting tomorrow morning. The virtual queue will still be used occasionally (based on crowds, demand, etc.) – but it sounds like standby will be the new default.

Prior to changing to the traditional stand-by queue, WEB SLINGERS had only been using the stand-by queue when Cast Members deemed that the crowds were low enough to do so — so a stand-by queue was never a guarantee. It is important to note that this change to a standby queue will only apply to the WEB SLINGERS virtual queue. Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will continue to operate on a virtual queue system.
This change to the virtual queue system may actually be very beneficial to Guests visiting Disneyland Resort with a Park Hopper ticket. When both virtual queues were in use, Guests could only join one virtual queue at a time and could not have a boarding group for WEB SLINGERS and Rise of the Resistance at the same time. This led to Guests who got a high boarding group number being unable to ride both attractions on the same day. Now, Guests will not have to choose which attraction they would like to ride.
Are you glad to see the WEB SLINGERS queue become mainly a stand-by queue?
