Change is inevitable at Walt Disney World Resort, but when a fan-favorite experience goes missing, it tends to get noticed rather quickly. Such is the case as Disney has seemingly removed a popular pizza option from its Pizza Window at the BoardWalk.
Disney’s BoardWalk Inn Resort offers the perfect dose of charm and relaxation on the bend of the stunning Crescent Lake. Not only has the Disney Resort’s lobby seen some changes recently with a new coffee shop, Carousel Coffee (which has fans disappointed), but the Coney Island-themed BoardWalk just outside of the Resort lobby is making changes.
The quarter-mile promenade of dining, shopping, and nightlife has recently said goodbye to locations such as Ample Hills Creamery, the oldie-but-goodie ESPN Club Restaurant, and BoardWalk Bakery. Now, restaurants include the new BoardWalk Deli, BoardWalk Ice Cream, and the incoming Cake Bake Shop table-service restaurant and bakery option.
Several fan favorites remain, such as Flying Fish, Trattoria al Forno, BoardWalk Joe’s Marvelous Margaritas, Funnel Cake Cart, Big River Grille and Brewing Works, AbracadaBar, Jellyrolls, and the Atlantic Dance Hall. But one of the most nostalgic spots is the simple yet delicious Pizza Window.
After a long day at the Disney Parks or a perfect spot for a family to enjoy a less expensive meal on a relaxing Resort day, the Pizza Window is a simple walk-up window where Guests order and wait for food. There are several seating areas located throughout the BoardWalk, making a pizza lunch or dinner ideal with a great view of Crescent Lake along with the BoardWalk entertainment.
But, fans have noticed that recently Disney removed a popular pizza option. Now, instead of selling pizzas by the whole at the BoardWalk Pizza Window, Disney is only selling pizza by the slice.
Interestingly enough, the Walt Disney World website describes the Pizza Window with “Tasty options include Italian salads and pizza—available by the slice or as a whole pie. Soft drinks, sangria and sweets are also on hand.” Notice the “whole pie” still in the description? Well, now the menu says otherwise.
Disney’s new Pizza Window menu has dropped the whole pie option, and instead, it lists slice pepperoni pizza ($9.29) and slice cheese pizza ($8.79). The typical side salad and mini cannolis remain on the menu.
We aren’t sure why the removal of the whole pizza option from the BoardWalk Pizza Window, but we are hoping Disney switches back to offering the whole pie once again!
As always, we will keep Disney Dining readers updated as we learn more about this Pizza Window change.
