Disney PhotoPass Goes Green…Literally & Figuratively

Disney Photopass

Beginning February 1, 2023, PhotoPass Photographers began sporting a brand new look! No longer are they hard to spot in their tan vests that fade into the background. You can now spot them a mile away in all-new bright green shirts.

It’s not just the color that’s changing, either. The new look symbolizes a new commitment to greener policies. The shirts will be made of recycled materials, a first for Disney costuming! Josh, Costume Designer for Disney Live Entertainment, said, “Sustainability and environmental consciousness are major focuses of all design work for Cast Member costumes,” he said. “We’re always looking for new practices and technologies that go the extra mile towards reducing our environmental footprint.”

That’s not all either, in addition to being better for the environment, the new look is better for the photographers too! The fabric is designed to control moisture and protect against the sun’s rays which are particularly potent in Florida. Josh said, “My favorite part about designing costumes for our cast is ensuring they are comfortable and safe. We help them to be at their best so they can make magic for our guests.”

This new move toward a greener approach to Costume making comes on the heels of a big donation from Disney for conservation efforts. As we reported earlier today, the effort, called Disney Planet Possible, is donating $500,000 to five different Central Florida organizations focused on conservation. This is only one small part of Disney’s effort to make the world a little better.

Sustainability has always been at the heart of Disney’s mission. In fact, to date, the Disney Conservation Fund has donated over $120 million dollars to various conservation efforts, including more than $86 million in grants to “protect the magic of nature.”

Actions like removing small plastic items from the Parks, going solar, or the new shirts for PhotoPass Photographers may seem like small steps but together small steps add up to giant leaps toward a greener, healthier planet. Disney Parks Blog just released a video of the new shirts. Check it out below:

About Jill Bivins

Jill Bivins has been visiting Disney Parks since she was 2 years old and loves sharing her Disney adventures with the world. She likes to say Disney is in her blood and writing is in her bones — so any time she has the opportunity to combine these loves she is one happy camper! She has a deep abiding love for Epcot and as a die hard Star Wars fan has a serious love for Hollywood Studios as well. When she isn't exploring or writing about Disney Parks, Jill is homeschooling her 8 year old son, playing with her brand new baby son, or pretending to be a farmer on her family homestead (despite being unable to keep even a cactus alive).
