Take note, Walt Disney World Guests! Disney has revealed it will be indefinitely closing one of its Deluxe Resort hotel amenities in the very near future.
Walt Disney World Resort is home to roughly 25 Resort Hotel destinations. With tiered Resort pricing and amenities, including Value, Moderate, and Deluxe Resorts, Guests staying at the Deluxe level can expect to experience paramount amenities and service. Unfortunately, for Guests staying at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, a source of Magic Kingdom Park transportation will be blocked in the coming days.
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa is known as being one of the best Disney Resorts because of its “grand” accommodations and proximity to Disney’s most magical theme park, Magic Kingdom. Located on the Resort Monorail loop, going to and from Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Magic Kingdom is a breeze.
Much like its neighboring Resort, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort is also undergoing changes which include the need for construction. Not only is Disney’s Grand Floridian welcoming more Disney Vacation Club Members to call its Resort home with newly refurbished rooms, but Disney fans can also expect lobby changes and other refreshes headed to the Grand Floridian in the coming months.

Due to the state of construction, Disney has announced it will temporarily remove the amenity of walking to and from Disney’s Grand Floridian and Magic Kingdom. Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort walking path is a little under one mile and can easily be strolled in under 20 minutes. Unfortunately, Disney Resort Guests will not have this option, leaving the Monorail and boat transportation options to and from Magic Kingdom readily available.
As reported by Streaming The Magic, “As a result of the current state of ongoing work at the Resort, Disney has announced a temporary closure of the walkway between Magic Kingdom and the Grand Floridian Resort. To ensure Guest safety as construction continues, the walkway will close February 13, 2023. At this time, there is no scheduled reopening date, although it is expected to reopen sometime in late Spring.”
