Disney FINALLY Releases Magic Key Renewal Information With a BIG Change!

The time has finally come, my Disneyland Resort friends! After what seemed like months of waiting for some sort of news, Disney has finally shared more information about renewing your Magic Key. Magic Keys were introduced in 2021 as a replacement for the popular Annual Pass Program. During the COVID shutdown, Disney sent out emails to Disneyland Resort Annual Passholders, saying that they would be ending the program. Eight months later, Magic Keys were introduced. The new Keys proved to be so popular that Disneyland had to put a pause on all new sales.

According to Disney, Magic Key renewal sales will begin on August 18, no earlier than 9 a.m. PT. At the time renewals begin, all four levels of Magic Key will be available. However, there will no longer be a Dream Key, which was the top-tier Magic Key. The Inspire Key is replacing the Dream Key. The Inspire Key and the Believe Key will both still allow Guests to have six Park reservations at a time. Now, there are a few important — and exciting — new details to note with this round of Magic Keys.

• Every Magic Key tier will have blackout dates from December 21 to January first — lower tier Keys may have additional blackout dates
• The Inspire Key and the Believe Key (top two tiers) will soon be offered unlimited PhotoPass downloads
• Each tier of Magic Key Pass will get the Key Holder a discount on the theme park purchase of Disney Genie+

Now, some Guests have Magic Keys that have already expired, however, Disney has shared that those Guests will be able to renew their Passes as well. A Guest whose Magic Key expired before August 18 will have the chance to renew their Magic Key any time between August 18 and August 31. All other Magic Keys will be able to be renewed within a 30-day window. A virtual queue will be used when renewals open up, which makes sense as Disney is trying to make sure that its website does not crash with the number of people who will be on it.

As in the past, every level of Disneyland Magic Key will be given a discount on food and merchandise. This time, however, Enchant and Imagine Key Holders will also be given a discount on parking in the Toy Story lot! The Toy Story Parking lot is located across from the Anaheim Convention Center, and a shuttle takes Guests right to Disneyland and Disney California Adventure. Discounts will not be offered for Enchant and Imagine Keys at the Mickey and Friends Parking structure.
