Big-time Disney CEO Bob Iger and famous actress Eva Longoria may seem like an odd pair to interact. Even odder, Iger tagged Longoria on Twitter about a janitor! Well, not a janitor directly per se, but the awesome new Searchlight film that recounts the hilariously inspiring true story of a janitor who set the world a flame! (You’ll understand that pun in a minute.)
Flamin’ Hot is not produced by Disney but is currently streaming on Hulu and Disney Plus. This biopic marks Eva Longoria’s directorial debut and Bob Iger has some strong opinions on how the film turned out! Flamin’ Hot tells the true story of Mexican-American immigrant Richard Montañez, a janitor at a Frito-Lay plant who invented Flamin’ Hot Cheetos. After growing up in poverty, Montañez dropped out of school to work in the fields. But he was creative and innovative.
While working the assembly line at the Frito-Lay factory, Richard noticed that the company’s Cheetos products lacked spice. He experimented with Cheetos and chili powder at home and convinced his plant managers to try it. The rest is literally history!
Flamin’ Hot Cheetos were a hit, Richard Montañez became vice president at Frito-Lay, and continued to innovate in the snack food industry. He also became a motivational speaker and mentor to young people, especially in underprivileged communities. The Flamin’ Hot movie showcases the American Dream come true and celebrates the power of innovation and diversity.
Here’s what Bob Iger Tweeted about the film:
Congratulations to @evalongoria and the whole cast and crew of @flaminHot! Proud of you all!!

Eva Longoria told USA Today that “everything really happened…I never wanted to tell the history of the Flamin’ Hot Cheeto. I’ve always been committed to telling Richard’s story.”
Flamin’ Hot has been met with rave reviews. The Hot Cheeto origin story stars Jesse Garcia in the role of Richard Montañez, and the cast includes Annie Gonzalez, Tony Shalhoub, Roger Enrico, and more. Check it out on Disney Plus or Hulu today!
