Right now, over 13,000 cast members at Disneyland Resort are suiting up for a significant part in their ongoing battle for better treatment on the job. Disney Workers Rising, a group of cast members looking to renegotiate and improve the contracts at Disneyland Resort, signifies a transformative movement within the workforce of one of the world’s most renowned entertainment companies.
The initiative has gained significant momentum, drawing attention not only from within the organization but also from the public, media, and labor unions. It highlights the dedication and unity among Disney workers in their pursuit of better treatment and representation in the workplace.
This wave of advocacy underscores the importance of valuing employees and recognizing their contributions to the success of the company. The resilience and determination displayed by Disney workers embody the spirit of solidarity and empowerment in driving positive change within the company. While the group has mainly made its presence online, the group is now planning an in-person meetup right outside Disneyland Resort.

Disney Cast Members and Allies Support Disney
Disney Workers Rising has organized a planned protest that is set to take place outside the iconic Disneyland Resort on the morning of Monday, June 17, 2024, starting promptly at 7:30 a.m. This demonstration is poised to be a powerful gathering that underscores the ongoing efforts and determination of Disney workers to amplify their voices and advocate for their rights.
By choosing the backdrop of Disneyland Resort, a place known for its magic and wonder, the workers aim to draw attention to their cause and showcase their solidarity in seeking fair treatment and just compensation for their valuable contributions to the The Walt Disney Company.
As the sun rises over the resort, these workers will stand united, making a visible and impactful statement in their quest for better working conditions, higher wages, and overall recognition of their essential role within the company.
This act of solidarity between cast members and their supporters speaks volumes about the resilience and unity among employees who are determined to bring about positive change within the company. The post on the @disneyworkersrising Instagram says:
“Disney’s contract proposals are full of hot air! Join us Monday, June 17, 2024 at 7:30AM to pass out balloons and show guests just how empty Disney’s proposals are for the cast members – the true magic makers of the Resort.

Cast Members Stand up in the Name of Advocacy
In the early hours of that Monday morning, as the city of Anaheim awakens, the sight of Disney workers rallying outside the resort will serve as a poignant reminder of the power of unity and the determination to strive for a better future. Through their peaceful protest, these workers are not just raising their voices; they are amplifying them, ensuring that their message resonates far and wide.
While it may be shocking to hear, protests over wage dicrepensies and equitable contracts have been prevalent at Disney theme parks around the world. Last year, Disneyland Paris Resort and Walt Disney World workers had major protests of this kind. Universal Orlando Resort employees also were bargaining for a better minimum wage last year, and for the most part, their negotiations were successful.
Now, it would seem that more physical demonstrations are on the way to the home of Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park. Many members of the Disney community will send good luck to every Disney employee engaging in these upcoming demonstrations. Hopefully, these cast members will soon find a solution with the Walt Disney Co.
They should, as well as every hourly employee in California, receive a pay raise of at least approximately $6.00 an hour. The minimum wage went up buy that amount, skilled and existing employees should get the same raise.
