The Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles is meant to showcase and honor some of the most iconic entertainers in history. Some of the names you’ll see along the pavement include Meryl Streep, Johnny Depp, and even Minnie Mouse!
Although she is already among the stars, Carrie Fisher’s name will soon take its rightful place among her peers on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. On none other than May the 4th, Fisher will be honored posthumously with a star near the El Capitan Theatre. May the 4th is considered a Star Wars holiday because, when spoken, it sounds like “may the force” which in the galactic series, is usually followed by “be with you.”
Other Star Wars alum who already have their stars on The Walk of Fame include Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, and Samuel L. Jackson. Snow White is the only Disney Princess to have her own star, but soon Princess Leia will join her.
Carrie Fisher iconized Princess Leia for decades and decades of Star Wars fans appearing as the character first in Star Wars (1977) and most recently in Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017), where she sacrifices herself. Fisher, unfortunately, died of a cardiac arrest in 2016 at age 60. She was also posthumously made a Disney Legend in 2017.
She is survived by her daughter, Billie Lourd, who is also an actress, appearing with her mother in Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015) and Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017). In Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (2019), Lourd played Princess Leia in a flashback scene. Billie Lourd will be accepting her posthumous star on her mother’s behalf.
Carrie Fisher’s Hollywood Walk of Fame star will cement a legacy already sealed in the hearts of many Star Wars fans. It will be the 2,754th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Statement from Ana Martinez, Producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame:
