Bluey fans online are battling it out following a post that accuses the newest episode of the children’s series of using profanity.
Over the weekend, a member of the Adult Bluey Lovers Facebook group posted a screenshot from the official website of the Australian children’s series.
Along with the screenshot, the member also shared her concerns about the language used in the description of a new character that appeared in the latest episode of Bluey, titled “The Sign,” the first-ever 28-minute-long episode, which debuted on the Disney+ streaming platform on Sunday.
Leading up to the new episode’s debut, the official Bluey website featured a description of one of the new characters in the series. Bucky Dunstan is a real estate agent who takes on the job of selling the Heelers’ home in the epic episode of Bluey.
On the Bluey website, Bucky is described as follows:
A smooth-talking real estate agent who loves crisp white shirts, four-door hatchbacks (with his face plastered on the side), and celebrating a sale with a good ole’ fashioned horn toot. He puts all his energy into being the best Brisbane realtor he can be. Slick and hell-bent on a sale, he’s a very convincing house peddler – even if it does involve a few exaggerations here and there.
But one member of the Adult Bluey Lovers Facebook group took issue with the description of Bucky, asking, “Why did the ‘Bluey’ website say the h-word?”
She was referring to the line in the verbiage about Bucky, a toy fox terrier realtor, that describes him as “hell-bent on a sale.” But other fans weren’t so quick to point fingers at the creators of Bluey.
In fact, the fan’s complaint garnered more than 2,000 comments, and many of the more than 70,000 Bluey fans in the group defended the use of the word hell-bent in the description, most all of them taking no issue with the word whatsoever.
“I was looking for the word hooker or . . . something offensive,” wrote one Facebook group member. “Nope, nothing to see here.”
Another fan took issue with the fan who had a problem with the word, saying, “I fear adults who call it the h-word.“
Another fan simply typed the word ADULTS in a post on the fan group page, while another fan responded, saying, “I sure as hell can’t tell you we learned about hell if I can’t use the word hell, can I?”
“The Sign” Is a Huge Hit With Fans
Sunday’s episode was a huge hit with Bluey fans. Nearly 2.3 million Australian viewers tuned in to watch the episode. And on IMDb, the new episode ranks 9.9 out of a possible score of 10. To say that the episode has been successful so far is quite an understatement.
