It’s been nearly two years since two popular ABC News anchors found themselves making headlines instead of reporting them. In December 2022, photos of GMA3: What You Need to Know anchors Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes were made public. It showed the two holding hands and spending an intimate weekend together. The only problem? As far as everyone knew, Amy Robach was married to actor Andrew Shue, and T.J. Holmes was married to Marilee Fiebig.

Days after the photos made the front page, Mr. Holmes and Ms. Robach were put on leave pending an internal investigation. Then, instead of looking forward to the start of the new year, the two found themselves on the unemployment line after ABC News decided to fire them and replace them on their hit morning show.
Despite the controversial start to their relationship, Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes are still together and going strong. One year after they were fired, they launched a new podcast, Amy & T.J., in which they spoke about the aftermath of their headline-making affair.
They admitted that in the days and weeks following their terminations, things were really dark. Robach even revealed that she was worried Holmes would hurt himself because he was in such a bad place.

On September 15, 2024, the former ABC News anchors launched their very own news podcast, Morning Run With Amy & T.J. The program is similar to GMA3, where Robach and Holmes discuss everything from hard-hitting news to entertainment and pop culture. The show has been a big hit, and fans love hearing the two do what they do best: report the news.
As if things could not get better for Mr. Holmes and Ms. Robach, they are now reportedly feeling “vindicated” upon hearing the news that ABC is still struggling to replace them after two years.

According to an exclusive report from In Touch Weekly, ABC executives are “locked in a talent-recruiting crisis” when it comes to deciding who will eventually replace Good Morning America hosts Robin Roberts, George Stephanopoulos, and Michael Strahan.
“After all, T.J. and Amy had star power, and the network has found no worthy replacements,” says the In Touch source. “That just puts more pressure on the other anchors like Robin Roberts and George Stephanopoulos, who work hard enough as it is.”
“T.J. and Amy are following all the drama very closely and debating who’s going to quit or be let go next,” continues the insider, adding that the two are “thanking their lucky stars they actually got out before it all went to pieces.”
There is some speculation that ABC might bite the bullet and ask the couple to return to the network. But would Holmes and Robach want to come back after everything that happened? Not likely.
The couple has spoken about returning to Good Morning America on their podcast and have said there are “a lot of ifs” that would go into their decision. They would absolutely not return if they were not both offered their jobs back. However, they did love the people they worked with and the team that they had, so they will never say never.

As much as I enjoyed Amy and T.J., I don’t think they have anything to do with the ratings slump. Their “star power” ain’t that powerful!
