On February 8, 2023, Disney CEO Bob Iger announced the company will layoff 7,000 Cast Members. Despite the shocking news, Walt Disney World Resort has plans to host a hiring event.

With former Disney CEO Bob Chapek out of the way, Disney CEO, Mr. Rober Iger, has returned with not only executive shakeups but an entire business restructure that has prompted 7,000 company layoffs, as announced during The Walt Disney Company’s first-quarter earnings for fiscal 2023.
Disney Parks President, Josh D’Amaro, has stated the layoffs will have an impact on Disney Parks, such as Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort, as mentioned in an email sent to Cast Members. While the workforce reductions will have an impact, it is clarified that the company does not expect these layoffs to impact hourly, frontline roles in the operation.

That’s right, on Thursday, February 16, 2023, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, Walt Disney World Resort will host a Job Fair for future Cast Members to explore the possibility of joining the Transportation Bus Driver team.
The job description goes on to note:
“The Walt Disney World Resort is recruiting Transportation Bus Drivers who are positive, dependable, and focused on maintaining the safety of our guests as they travel throughout multiple routes within our parks and resorts. As a part of our passionate team, you would be expected to observe Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and other state and local traffic laws and meet the Department of Transportation Physical Standards.

Ready to apply? Candidates aren’t required to have a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) at the time of applying but will be required if hired, along with a valid Florida Driver’s License. Furthermore, Disney will provide paid training for candidates to obtain their CDL and reimburse the CDL expense.
Currently, Transportation Bus Drivers receive a starting rate of $18.00/hour, along with the ability to join the Disney Aspire program to receive 100% of tuition paid upfront for partner institutions.
