Birds at Disney Raise Trouble

The geese at Disneyland have gotten a lot more aggressive and hissy recently,” the tweet read, “so I’m pretty sure we’re going to start seeing goslings around the park soon. There’s one in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle right now hissing at random guests.”

The tweet, accompanied by a photo of the hissing goose near the iconic Sleeping Beauty Castle, sparked a wave of comments from Disneyland fans and visitors, many of whom confirmed similar encounters with geese throughout the park.

While Disneyland is no stranger to its wildlife residents, particularly around the park’s lush landscaping and waterways, the recent shift in behavior has raised eyebrows. Geese, especially during nesting season, can become notably more protective and defensive of their young. The sighting of a solitary goose hissing at guests suggests the birds may be preparing for the arrival of goslings, a phenomenon that typically brings heightened territorial behaviors.

Wildlife at Disney

Disneyland staff have yet to comment on the situation, but it is expected that park officials will monitor the birds more closely to ensure the safety of visitors. In the past, Disney has taken steps to address wildlife concerns with both animal control and park management teams, ensuring that wildlife does not pose a threat to the guest experience.

While most guests seem to be taking the interactions in stride, others have expressed concern about the potential for more frequent confrontations as the birds become more protective of their territory.

As Disneyland approaches its busiest season, it remains to be seen how the aggressive geese will affect visitors’ experiences. For now, guests are advised to keep their distance from any geese they may encounter, especially if there are signs of nesting or young goslings nearby. In the meantime, park-goers are reminded to enjoy the magic of Disneyland while keeping an eye out for any feathery surprises.
