Halloween Horror Nights lost one of its biggest live offerings last night.
Universal Orlando Resort’s annual Halloween event returned to Universal Studios Florida on select nights from August 28 through November 1, 2026. HHN 35 includes 10 haunted houses, four scare zones, two live shows, themed food and merchandise, plus select attractions operating after dark.
This year’s houses draw from properties including Sinners, Stranger Things 5, Hellraiser, Evil Dead Burn, and Ozzy Osbourne, while original concepts fill out the rest of the lineup. FORTNITEMARES and Downtown Clowntown are among the scare zones spread across the park.
Live entertainment is also a major part of the event. Stranger Things: Return to Hawkins takes over the lagoon, while Nightmare Fuel: Blood Noir brings fire, aerial work, dance, illusions, and stunts to the former Fear Factor Live theater.
On Friday night, however, Universal suddenly removed the latter from the rest of the event.
Universal Cancels Every Remaining Nightmare Fuel Show
Universal Studios Florida canceled all remaining performances of Nightmare Fuel: Blood Noir on September 11 after the event had already begun.
A notice distributed through the Universal Orlando Resort app confirmed that the show would not return for the rest of Friday evening.
“Nightmare Fuel: Blood Noir has been canceled for the remainder of the evening,” the notice read (via X). “We encourage you to visit one of our other attractions or shows at this time. We apologize for the inconvenience.”

Universal did not provide a reason for the cancellation.
Guests at Halloween Horror Nights quickly began sharing reports from around the theater. Some claimed they had seen emergency vehicles, including an ambulance and fire truck, nearby, while others reported seeing medics in the area.
None of those reports have been confirmed by Universal Orlando Resort.
One guest on Reddit said the change appeared to happen shortly before a scheduled performance.
“They loaded us in for the 9:30 show and all seemed normal, but we did see team members in the front start running to the back near the start,” the guest wrote. “Not surprised they canceled the rest tbh, but I hope it isn’t bad.”
Rumors circulated that the cancellation may have involved either a performer medical emergency or a mechanical issue. Again, Universal has not confirmed either explanation, and there is currently no official indication of what prompted the sudden shutdown.
What Happens Next for Nightmare Fuel at HHN 35?
Blood Noir is not a minor piece of this year’s Halloween Horror Nights lineup.
The production is the sixth version of Nightmare Fuel, which first appeared at Halloween Horror Nights in 2021. Previous installments have included Wildfire, Revenge Dream, Nocturnal Circus, and last year’s Circus of Decay.
For 2026, Universal shifted the series into a vampire-themed metropolis. Blood Noir follows a dark musical storyline built around temptation and vampires, with performers combining parkour, aerial routines, fire effects, dance, and illusions throughout the production.

The show takes place in the theater formerly occupied by Fear Factor Live near Men in Black: Alien Attack. Before Friday’s cancellation, performances were scheduled throughout HHN evenings, giving guests an alternative to the event’s haunted houses and scare zones.
Universal’s published HHN 35 lineup still lists Nightmare Fuel: Blood Noir as one of the event’s two major live shows, alongside Stranger Things: Return to Hawkins.
That means Friday’s cancellation does not currently appear to represent a permanent removal from Halloween Horror Nights 35. Instead, Universal specifically told guests that the show had been canceled for the remainder of the evening.
However, the resort has not publicly explained whether the circumstances behind Friday’s shutdown could affect upcoming performances.
Halloween Horror Nights is scheduled to continue at Universal Studios Florida today, September 12, with the event running from 6:30 p.m. until 2 a.m. Blood Noir would normally be part of that night’s entertainment lineup.
