Disney Closes Magic Kingdom Park Area Amidst Severe Weather

Located within Magic Kingdom Park are two exciting themed lands known as Adventureland and Frontierland. Adventureland is a vibrant and immersive area where guests can embark on thrilling expeditions and encounter exotic sights. From the iconic Jungle Cruise to the swashbuckling Pirates of the Caribbean attraction, Adventureland offers a mix of excitement and adventure for theme park visitors of all ages.

In contrast, Frontierland transports guests back to the rugged days of the Wild West with its rustic charm and frontier spirit. The exciting Big Thunder Mountain Railroad ride and the temporarily closed Country Bear Jamboree show are just a couple of the attractions that capture the essence of the American frontier. As guests wander through the streets of Frontierland, they are immersed in a bygone era filled with cowboys, saloons, and frontier adventures.

Both Adventureland and Frontierland at Magic Kingdom Park provide unique experiences that cater to different tastes and preferences. Unfortunately, these park areas were mostly unavailable for fans after Walt Disney World Resort allegedly closed them due to heavy storms.

Severe Weather Hits Walt Disney World

Whether you prefer the thrill of exploring untamed jungles or the nostalgia of the Old West, these themed Disney park areas offer something special for everyone. Unfortunately, some guests report being blocked out of the area due to unexpected weather-related closures.

Guests visiting the park area yesterday, June 11, reported that a large portion of these lands were being closed on the Walt Disney World Resort app, which updates guests on closures throughout the resort. The guest reports:

“Almost all of Adventureland and Frontierland is temporarily closed right now at MK according to the app. Did another bear get into the park or? 😅”

Many commenters share that these closures are most likely due to the weather that swept the Lake Buena Vista area yesterday. Heavy rain can sometimes cause an attraction to flood in these areas, making it difficult to operate safely. One guest shares:

“At the GF now and it is almost definitely weather related. It’s been VERY stormy since about lunch. My husband and I were trying to escape AK before it hit and we ended up soaked through all our clothes even with rain jackets 🤣”

A colorful sign reading "ADVENTURELAND" is displayed over a wooden archway. The entrance features tiki-inspired decorations with vibrant colors, flanked by lush green tropical plants and trees, all set against a bright blue sky with a few scattered clouds.

For the Safety of Guests

These alleged closures served as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety and well-being of all park visitors. While such closures can disrupt the typical flow of activities within these beloved sections of the park, they underscore the priority placed on guest welfare by the management of Magic Kingdom.

This weather-induced closure also highlights the intricate logistics involved in maintaining the park’s operations and the adaptability required to navigate unforeseen circumstances. Despite the temporary inconvenience, guests understood that safety always comes first in the enchanting world of Magic Kingdom Park.
