Today is the day! Would-be passholders have been waiting for what feels like an eternity for Disney World Annual Passes to go back on sale and the day has finally arrived. Except….it hasn’t. At least not yet. Passholders looking to upgrade and starry eyed Disney fans looking to extend their fun year round were up at 6:00 am Eastern time to jump on the new sales.
Why so early? Because that’s what Disney told us to do. However, Annual Passes did not go on sale at 6:00. They did not go on sale at 6:30 am either. This has left many fans irritated, stressed and overall antsy. They’ve got their money in hand and just want to fork it over.

When Disney initially announced that Annual Passes would resume sales there were more questions than answers. What time would they go on sale? Are they limited? Will sales be paused again or are they on-sale for good like old times once again? Now that the day has arrived, the short answer is: we still don’t know. Disney has not been forthcoming with information and many would-be-Passholders aren’t pleased.

Only hints have been dropped about how this will all work. Disney said passes would go on sale NO EARLIER than 6:00 am. They did not specifically say they’d be available AT 6:00 am. Disney has also said that they “reserve the right to pause sales at any time” which hints but does not confirm that passes will be limited.
This has led to a lot of frustration for Guests looking to buy their passes. The questions surrounding the process do not instill confidence in Disney that the process will go smoothly. Disney IT isn’t exactly known for pulling these things off well (looking at you, limited merch releases). Many fans are waiting with baited breath to see if their attempts to become Disney Annual Passholders will be successful.
* 7:00 AM UPDATE: As of 7:00 am Eastern Walt Disney World Annual Passes resumed sale. Guests who logged in at 6:00 am were automatically put in the queue to buy and were among the first in line. Many who had been waiting since 6:00 am however found that their wait time was more than an hour both online and on the phone.
Once your turn to buy comes up, you have 10 minutes to make your purchase before losing your spot. Need extra time? You can save your cart. We do not yet know how long this option will reserve your Passes for but we have confirmed that it is for more than the allotted 10 minutes.
** 8:30 UPDATE: After Just an hour and a half, Disney’s site crashed. No new sales of Annual Passes are available at this time. No word has been given on whether or not sales will resume later today or not but we are watching the situation closley. Disney’s site could have crashed due to more demand than their servers could handle or it is possible that they have sold out.
Stay tuned right here at Disney Dining where we will bring you real-time up-to-date coverage of the process as the day goes on.
