In the wake of significant fan backlash, The Walt Disney Company has issued a statement addressing concerns about the closure of the beloved MuppetVision 3D attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
The popular 3D show, featuring the Muppets in a comedic and immersive experience, is reportedly set to be replaced by a new themed land inspired by Monsters, Inc. called Monstropolis, sparking disappointment among many park-goers.

‘Monsters Inc’ Reveal Leaves Some Fans Furious
MuppetVision 3D has been a fixture at Disney’s Hollywood Studios since its debut, celebrated for its humor, nostalgic charm, and unique Muppet-style antics. However, Disney’s recent announcement of its closure and replacement by Monstropolis, an expansion themed around the hit Monsters, Inc. franchise, has ignited a wave of dissatisfaction among fans who hold MuppetVision 3D in high regard.
For the past several days since these reports surfaced, fans have been flooding to the attraction to experience it before it is gone. It is evident that many are against this transition, with some even going as far as to write letters to The Walt Disney Company over their dismay.
On August 13, one Disney fan, @TheMouseAndMore, sent a thorough email describing their reaction to the MuppetVision 3D Closure. The letter discusses how MuppetVision 3D is the last project that Jim Henson worked on before his death, making it extremely important to the history of the Muppets. One section discusses:
“I have been an Annual Passholder to the Walt Disney World Resort since 2017, a D23 member, and a Disney fan ever since I was little. Whenever I travel to Florida I always make it a priority to view Muppet*Vision 3D… Please consider saving Muppet*Vision 3D from this current state of future development for the park.”

Disney Responds To Fan Letter
In response to the letter, Disney addressed the concerns fans have but emphasized that the parks are meant to be in a constant state of development. One section of the letter reads:
“Our Imagineers keep Walt Disney’s spirit alive through the additions of new attractions as well as the updating of many of our classic attractions. Occasionally the removal or reimagining of some of our Guests’ beloved classics is a part of this commitment to ever changing satisfaction… We understand that our changes can be disappointing when it comes to our Theme Parks but it is out hope that these changes bring about new enthusiasm for all of our Guests.”
Due to the response, the original writer of the letter emphasizes that fans should continue to voice their opinions and fight back against Disney. It is clear that the fight for these dedicated supporters is far from over. Over at Magic Kingdom Park, a similar battle in support of the Rivers of America, set to be turned into a Cars-themed land, is also happening.
I received a reply back, and Imagineering definitely read my letter because individuals were CC’d on response back. This doesn’t confirm much but it shows they are reading what we’re sending so keep going. https://t.co/wWt4KJVAS4 pic.twitter.com/mdIx7qOFGa

As the transition inevitably approaches, Disney fans remain divided. While some are looking forward to exploring Monstropolis and its new offerings, others lament the departure of a beloved attraction. The success of the Monsters Inc. land will ultimately determine whether Disney’s latest addition can capture the magic that made MuppetVision 3D a cherished part of Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Find a different place for Monsters, Inc. DONT CLOSE MUPPETVISION 3D. Maybe you can stick the Monsters in Star Wars 😳
100% CORRECT.
I can’t wait for Monster Inc. area. The Muppets are outdated. I have been going to WDW sunce 1973, ready for something new.
I’ve been going to WDW since 1973 (over 150 visits) and I love the Muppets show. I see it at least once every visit.
I like Monsters Inc and I’m looking forward to the attraction but I think they could build it in the animation courtyard since most of the buildings are either empty or nearly empty from the failed decision of moving animation to Florida.
They were starting placing indiana jones stunt show in animal kingdom and move stormtroopers to star wars land this would free up all the space needed for monsters inc
THE BLESSING OF SIZE, STOP ONLY TAKING CARE OF CALIFORNIA. A LOT MORE OF PARKS MONEY COMES IN FROM FLORIDA !
ADD, NOT SUBSTITUTE !
