Actor Michael J. Fox collapsed on-stage over the weekend during a Back to the Future Q&A panel in Pennsylvania, according to a post at RadarOnline.
The unsettling incident took place at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia, where the now-retired 61-year-old actor appeared alongside his Back to the Future costars Christopher Lloyd, 84, and Tom Wilson, 64, for this year’s Fan Expo. According to footage of the event, Fox lost his footing just after stepping onto the stage. He then stumbled onto the sofa in front of him rather than falling to the floor.
Thankfully, Michael J. Fox appeared to suffer no injuries from his on-stage collapse. Though it was initially a bit scary, Fox, Lloyd, and Wilson quickly recovered from the shock and quickly composed themselves before heading into the exciting and highly-anticipated Q&A session for the trio’s science fiction adventure films.
The star’s fall at the Back to the Future event in Philadelphia over the weekend comes just weeks after Fox talked about his battle with Parkinson’s disease and how that things are getting harder for him. Fox was diagnosed in 1991–at the age of 29–with Parkinson’s disease, a brain disorder that causes unintended or uncontrollable movements, such as shaking, stiffness, and difficulty with balance.
In April, the Teen Wolf star told CBS, “[Parkinson’s] is banging on the door. I’m not going to lie, it’s getting hard. It’s getting harder.”
In addition to Fox’s credits in the Back to the Future film franchise and the Teen Wolf series, the actor also completed several projects for Disney. He lent his voice to Chance in Disney’s Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey (1993) and its sequel, Homeward Bount II: Lost in San Francisco (1996). He also voiced Milo Thatch in Disney’s Atlantis: The Lost Empire (2001) and Michael in the Phineas and Ferb episode titled, “The Curse of Candace.” He also played the character Michael Chapman in Touchstone Pictures’ Life with Mikey (1993) and the character Ethan West in the ABC television show Designated Survivor.

“It’s getting tougher,” Michael J. Fox said further when talking with CBS in April. “Every day it’s tougher; that’s the way it is.”
The 61-year-old former actor began his career at the young age of 16, and recently he revealed that he doesn’t think he’ll survive his battle with his debilitating disease long enough to see his 80th birthday.
