‘Jurassic World Rebirth’ Features Key Flashback Set Before Jurassic Park
With Jurassic World Rebirth set to push the franchise into bold new territory, the recently released trailer has left fans buzzing over its glimpses of mutant dinosaurs, abandoned InGen facilities, and an unsettling flashback that may be one of the most pivotal moments in the franchise’s timeline.
The fourth entry in the Jurassic World saga already promised high-stakes action, but the new footage suggests a deeper connection to the original 1993 film than previously expected. One of the trailer’s most haunting moments occurs at the 1:51 mark, where two InGen scientists in hazmat suits are shown inside a shadowy containment facility.
One of them—panicked and desperate—bangs on the glass, pleading for their colleague to let them out. The reason for their terror is clear: there’s a monstrous new dinosaur behind one of them.

This chilling scene isn’t just another terrifying moment—it appears to be a flashback that predates the events of Jurassic Park.
In a recent Vanity Fair exclusive, Gareth Edwards and producer Frank Marshall previously said that Jurassic World Rebirth would introduce “dinosaurs that didn’t work”, genetic experiments that failed to meet the standards of John Hammond’s vision for Jurassic Park.
“When you make a creature, you get a big, massive pot and you pour in your favorite monsters from other films and books,” Edwards says of the giant creature in the trailer. “Some Rancor went in there, some H.R. Giger went in there, a little T. rex went in there.” By Rancor and H.R. Giger, Edwards is referring to the Star Wars and Alien franchises respectively.
The new trailer reveals that the abandoned InGen facility, which serves as a major setting in the film, was once a dumping ground for genetic mistakes—dinosaurs that were too dangerous, unstable, or mutated to be showcased in the park.
The revelation that Jurassic World Rebirth will explore pre-Jurassic Park events is a game-changer. While the franchise has previously dabbled in archival footage and brief flashbacks, this could be the first time audiences witness first-hand the dark secrets of InGen before the park even opened.
How much of this flashback will be explored remains unknown, but one thing is clear—the Jurassic World franchise is no longer just looking forward. It’s finally delving deeper into its own past.
When Can I Watch Jurassic World Rebirth?
The Jurassic franchise is roaring into new territory as Jurassic World Rebirth prepares to take over theaters on July 2, 2025.
