The Jurassic franchise has officially entered its next era. With the release of the first trailer for Jurassic World Rebirth (2025), Universal Pictures has introduced the seventh film in the long-running series—one that takes the franchise in an entirely new direction.
Beginning with Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park (1993), the franchise has captivated audiences for over thirty years. The original trilogy continued with The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997) and Jurassic Park III (2001) before the series was revived with Jurassic World (2015), introducing a new generation of characters.
That trilogy continued with Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018) and concluded with Jurassic World Dominion (2022), which reunited legacy characters from the original films. Now, three years after Jurassic World Dominion, the series moves forward with Jurassic World Rebirth, a film that does not feature any returning characters from past installments.

Unlike the previous Jurassic World trilogy, Jurassic World Rebirth introduces an entirely new cast and storyline. Directed by Gareth Edwards (Godzilla, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) and written by David Koepp, the screenwriter behind Jurassic Park and The Lost World: Jurassic Park, the film follows Zora Bennett (Scarlett Johansson), a covert ops expert leading a team on a high-risk mission to retrieve genetic material from three colossal dinosaurs.
Their mission is complicated when they come across a shipwrecked family on an abandoned InGen island, where a long-buried secret is waiting to be uncovered.
While previous Jurassic films saw the return of characters like Dr. Alan Grant (Sam Neill), Dr. Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern), and Dr. Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum), Jurassic World Rebirth moves forward with an entirely fresh ensemble. Jonathan Bailey, Mahershala Ali, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Rupert Friend, Luna Blaise, and Ed Skrein round out the cast alongside Johansson.
With the trailer now available, Jurassic World Rebirth is set to bring audiences back to a world where dinosaurs still roam. Universal Pictures has confirmed that the film will arrive in theaters worldwide on July 2, 2025.
