7 Things Walt Disney World Insiders Love About Disney Snacks

Food, and more specifically snacks, are an important and highly enjoyable part of a visit to Walt Disney World. Disney knows that Insiders look forward to snacking at Walt Disney World and they go out of their way to deliver the classic favorites, new choices and plenty of options. Here are 7 things Walt Disney World Insiders Love about Disney Snacks.

7. Mickey Shaped Snacks

Everywhere you look, there are delicious snacks shaped like our favorite mouse, Mickey! Ice cream bars, cookies, candied apples, crisped rice treats, cake pops, pretzels, and the list goes on. You can even purchase cookie cutters, pancake molds and other Mickey shaped kitchen utensils so you can make your own Mickey shaped treats at home, though they are never quite the same as the snacks on property. Having at least one snack shaped like Mickey is an absolute must do when at Disney.

6. Where to Go

Some snacks are only available at certain parks or locations and Disney Insiders know where to go to find their favorite snacks. For example, many popular snacks can only be found in the World Showcase at Epcot. There is the fan favorite School Bread at the Kringla Bakeri og Kafe, the macaroon ice cream sandwich at L’Artisan de Glaces in France, or the Caramel Pecan Bar at Karamell Kuche in Germany to name just a few of the unique treats at the World Showcase. Disney Insiders also know where the iconic Dole Whips can be found, be it in Adventureland at the Magic Kingdom, at the Polynesian, or at Tamu Tamu Refreshments in Animal Kingdom where they offer the Dole Whip with rum. Disney Insiders plan their snacks when they are at each park so they don’t miss out on one of their favorite classic Disney snacks. The My Disney Experience app is a very helpful tool if you want to check out what is offered at each park and resort.

5. Special Event Snacks

Some snacks are only available at Walt Disney World during certain times of the year, or at certain special events. The snacks may even vary from year to year, especially at events like The Food and Wine Festival, Festival of the Arts, or the Flower and Garden Festival at Epcot.

In the past, there have been snack items such as a pavlova with berries and vanilla crème, cocadas (a Brazilian coconut candy), or a bratwurst in pretzel roll. These special snacks are a nice change to the classic Disney snacks and give Disney Insiders many new things to try.

There are also special holiday snacks available at Mickey’s-Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, like the special Halloween cupcakes, candy corn cotton candy and even candy corn soft serve. At Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, certain locations offer complimentary treats such as the snickerdoodle cookies and hot chocolate, which are served throughout the Magic Kingdom at this event. There is also red and green soft serve ice cream and a peppermint sundae available during the holiday season. These snacks take classic Disney favorites and give it a holiday flair, which makes celebrating the holiday seasons just that much more enjoyable and magical.

4. Cupcakes

The cupcakes at Walt Disney World are in a class of their own. Not only are Disney cupcakes absolutely delicious, they are decorated beautifully! Each cupcake is a work of art, flavor-wise and visually. You can find cupcakes topped with characters like Olaf, Darth Vader, Baymax, or fresh fruit and flavored buttercream frosting. Sometimes the cupcakes are decorated to reflect the flavor, for example the S’mores Cupcake has chocolate and marshmallows on top, or a cupcake will celebrate a particular character or film, like the cupcakes that feature Mickey or Anna and Elsa. Whatever cupcake you choose, you will not be disappointed. And if you need to take it to-go, just ask a cast member for a to-go container. Disney provides special containers that will keep your cupcake perfectly intact.

It is available at the restaurant in the resort, Boma, and also at the quick service spot, Mara. If you head over to Port Orleans-French Quarter, you can find beignets, which are comparable to a donut, dusted with powdered sugar. Often these are made fresh to order and they are worth the trek and wait!

At Christmas the Grand Floridian has two reasons to visit. One is to see the life sized gingerbread house and the second is the buy gingerbread cookies that are sold from the life sized gingerbread house. Not only is this a great snack, but it’s also a once in a lifetime experience. How often can you say you’ve seen a life-sized gingerbread house?

2. Snack Credits

If you are on a dining plan chances are you have some snack credits to use, and with all the choices of snacks, it can be difficult to pick just one. Disney snacks will tempt you everywhere you go, and since you’re at Disney World, it’s a good time to give into temptation!
