For many years, guests visiting Walt Disney World Resort were able to use the popular (and free) FastPass system. FastPasses allowed guests to receive a return time for an attraction, and then, when it was their time, they would be able to wait in a shorter line. Unfortunately, in 2021, Disney eliminated its free FastPass system and implemented a controversial new system called Disney Genie+.
Disney Genie+ varies in cost daily, and guests will pay as much as $35 per day per guest just to wait in shorter lines on a few rides. However, despite the complaints, guests have been purchasing Genie+ at record rates, netting the Mouse House millions of dollars.

For many people, a Walt Disney World Resort vacation has become much more complicated than it used to be. Guests who want to book the most popular rides on Disney Genie+ must wake up at 7 a.m. to purchase Genie+ and then make their reservations. Sleeping in on your Disney trip has almost become a thing of the past.
It seems that one woman couldn’t handle the stress of a Disney vacation and Genie+, which landed her in the Orange County Jail.
According to a recently released report from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, Andrea Jean Hill was arrested last month at Disney’s Hollywood Studios after punching her daughter in the face.
Chelsea [the victim] advised, she was having a family argument regarding ride reservations with other family members. As members of the family began to argue amongst each other, Chelsea’s grandmother, Carolyn, became physical with Chelsea’s husband, Dominic King. As the family became more agitated, Andrea Hill (defendant), began arguing with Chelsea, and in turned [sic] tried to speak with her separately from everyone else. Chelsea advised, Andrea began pulling her by her clothing and hair prompting Chelsea to push her away. At that time Chelsea advised, she was struck in the face by Andrea.

The police report further states that theme park cast members saw the incident and immediately stepped in to separate the two women. Security was called, along with the Reedy Creek Fire Department. The medics showed up and offered assistance, but Chelsea turned them down. The responding police officer did note that there was swelling and a red mark on Chelsea’s cheek.
Andrea Hill was also interviewed and said that Chelsea was arguing with her brother. Andrea admitted to pulling Chelsea away to talk to her privately, and Chelsea pushed her away. Chelsea trying to push Andrea away caused Andrea to “slug her in the face.”
Ms. Hill has pleaded not guilty to the charges against her. We do not know if any members of the family received a trespass notice from Disney and are banned from visiting in the future.
