This may be good news for our wallets but bad news for the Parks!
2023 has already been a year of many highs and lows for the Walt Disney Company. The Parks have seen some exciting wins regarding openings and new releases. Still, the tension between the company and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has damaged Disney’s recent successes. This year Disney has also seen a significant influx in Park Guests at Walt Disney World Resort. Crowd numbers have continued to break records on both ends of the spectrum.
Now, just weeks after setting a record-setting price for Disney’s Genie+ service, Disney has fallen to a record-setting low.

Disney’s Winning Streak Comes to an Apparent End
Earlier this month, Walt Disney World Resort experienced massive crowd levels due to the holiday and spring break crowds. Guests visiting the Parks were met with huge lines at nearly every attraction. Due to the masses, many Guests looked to optimize their experience by purchasing individual lightning lane and Disney Genie Plus services. Because of the demand, the price for Disney Genie Plus swelled to $35, a record for the Parks. The service also was selling out in the morning at a record time.
Just a few weeks later, Disney is facing an entirely different problem. The last week was one of Walt Disney World Resorts’ emptiest since reopening after the Covid-19 shutdowns. Guests were shocked to find incredibly low wait times at usually bustling attractions.
Today, April 23, 2023, marks a new Walt Disney World Resort record. Disney Genie Plus has dropped to $15, the lowest price it can go to. The price of the individual lightning lane has stayed the same. While this time of year is typically slower for Disney Park, it is staggering to see such a drastic switch in such a short time. These low prices and small crowds will not last much longer, as summer crowds are just around the corner.
