It’s been nearly thirty years since a group of accomplished women sat around a table and spoke about the issues of the day on The View. The iconic ABC show was started by legendary ABC News reporter, Barbara Walters. Over the years, the women of The View have spoken to everyone, from pop stars like Britney Spears to politicians like former President Barack Obama. The current hosts of The View are Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Ana Navarro, Alyssa Farah Griffin, and Sara Haines.

Some of The View hosts are known for their hot tempers — mainly Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg. And Goldberg proved what a spitfire she was during a recent taping when she yelled at an audience member.
During the taping, the women were talking about the numerous legal issues against former President Donald Trump. During the conversation, Goldberg interrupted cohost Sunny Hostin and got up from her chair. Goldberg then walked to the side of the stage and spoke to an audience member who was off-camera.

Goldberg said to the audience member, “Sir, I have to stop you with the camera, ‘cause I can see you. So do me a favor, don’t pull it out again.”
The man said something unintelligible, and Whoopi thanked him and went back to her seat. When she was asked by her cohosts what had happened, she revealed that she had seen the man using his cellphone to record part of the segment.
It is important to note that the man was breaking the rules that he agreed to when he decided to be an audience member. Audience members are told that they are not allowed to film anything or take pictures while in the studio. Despite breaking the rules, a spokesperson for The View told PEOPLE that the man put his phone away and was not asked to leave the studio.
Whoopi’s Whopping Controversies
While all the women on The View are known for saying some truly outrageous skin — like how semen makes a good skin cream — Goldberg seems to be the one who dominates the headlines.
Towards the end of 2022, Goldberg found herself suspended from the popular show, due to comments that she made about the Holocaust. At one point, Goldberg had said that the Holocaust was not about racism. Instead, she said that it was about “man’s inhumanity towards man.” She later issued an apology, saying that she did not know that Jewish people were considered a race.
Then, in May 2023, Goldberg had to issue another apology video for something she said during a segment. Goldberg had used the term “gypped”, which she did not realize was derived from the term “gypsy”, a racist name for the Romani people. However, this time, many people had her back, claiming they also did not know the word had racist origins.

She also recently angered entire generations when she spoke poorly about Millennials and Gen-Zers. She claimed that those generations can’t do things like afford a house because they do not want to work hard. It was quickly pointed out to Goldberg that Millennials have worked incredibly hard, only to have Baby Boomers destroy things like the housing market, the economy, and the planet, only to then tell Millennials to fix it.
