Walt Disney World’s Most Overrated Attractions

Credit: Disney

With four amazing Disney Parks to enjoy, guests can spend tons of time enjoying attractions of all types. From big thrills to family friendly experiences, there are countless attractions that allow guests to enter into different worlds of beloved characters and more for unforgettable memories. While every guest certainly has a favorite attraction and there are some that are considered to be classics or must dos, there are also plenty of attractions that can be considered overrated for a variety of reasons. Whether they are simply not worth the typical lengthy wait times, are a bit of a bore for guests, or other reasons, certain attractions are considered to be overrated and worth skipping by some guests. Here are some of Walt Disney World’s most overrated attractions to maybe skip on any vacation.

1. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train

While the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is a favorite of many guests, it can also be considered to be very overrated in the Magic Kingdom. The attraction is entertaining enough with guests boarding a mine train that gently sways and whisks them into the mines where the dwarfs are hard at work before continuing throughout the small mountain. While there are some fantastic audio-animatronics and small hills and turns, the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is definitely the tamest of the mountains in the Magic Kingdom and can boast very lengthy wait times. Guests who are looking to enjoy a bigger thrill to match their wait time are better off heading to Space Mountain or Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.

2. Frozen Ever After

Epcot’s World Showcase is home to several attractions including Frozen Ever After in the Norway Pavilion. The attraction has guests board boats and sail through the kingdom of Arendelle for a special celebration thrown by Elsa. While again there are amazing audio-animatronics and two small drops, the attraction is essentially focused on characters and music from the popular Frozen films, so guests who are not invested in the story might consider the experience to be overrated especially considering its consistent popularity and wait times.

3. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith

Disney’s Hollywood Studios is home to some of the biggest thrills in all of Walt Disney World including an attraction that is situated at the end of Sunset Boulevard. The Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith launches guests through downtown Los Angeles and several inversions at high speed to make it to an Aerosmith concert across town. While the experience is certainly thrilling and one of the most unforgettable in Walt Disney World, it can also be considered overrated by many guests. This is in part due to wait times that are always lengthy, especially now with the removal of FastPasses. Guests can still enjoy the experience, but they are going to spend a long time waiting in line for a very short thrill.

4. The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh

Another attraction that can be considered overrated by guests due to its focus on characters can be found in the heart of the Magic Kingdom’s Fantasyland. The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh brings guests into the Hundred Acre Wood on a blustery day where Pooh and his pals are getting into both fun and trouble. While the attraction is certainly a classic, guests who are disinterested in the characters or story or those without small children might considered it to be overrated, especially when considering its wait times.

5. Peter Pan’s Flight

One of the largest debates about an overrate attraction can be had about another experience found in Fantasyland in the Magic Kingdom. Peter Pan’s Flight is widely considered to be one of the absolute must do classic attractions in Walt Disney World, but many guests also find it to be highly overrated. This is largely in part due to the low capacity that the attraction has, as each flying pirate ship can only hold two to three guests at a time and there are not very many on the track operating at once. Guests certainly love enjoying the magic of flying over London and Neverland, but with substantial wait times no matter what time of day and a very short ride experience, Peter Pan’s Flight can definitely be considered overrated.

6. Test Track Presented by Chevrolet

Future World in Epcot focuses on the beauty and wonder of the natural world and the innovation and technology that drives the world forward. Test Track Presented by Chevrolet is one of the most popular experiences in the Disney Park, but is also overrated to many guests for a variety of reasons. The attraction brings guests into the design side of the automotive world and allows them to create SIM cars which are then put to the test on the track. With thrilling tests including a high speed loop at the end and innovative and immersive technology, Test Track Presented by Chevrolet is definitely entertaining, but many guests still skip it. This is due to lengthy wait times, often glitch technology where guests SIM cars don’t properly link for the experience, and the argument that the high speed loop at the end is the typical speed that guests drive on the highway on a normal day.

7. Na’vi River Journey

The newest area of Disney’s Animal Kingdom is Pandora – The World of Avatar where guests are transported to the mythical Valley of Mo’ara to explore the world of the Na’vi underneath floating mountains. While there are two attractions in the area, one is considered to be overrated by many guests. The Na’vi River Journey brings guests on a beautiful and serene boat ride through one of the bioluminescent forests of Pandora where they then find themselves encountering the Shaman of the Songs. While the otherworldly creatures and vegetation in the attraction is beautiful and the Shaman is one of the most incredible audio-animatronics ever developed, many guests consider the attraction to be overrated in comparison to its companion Avatar Flight of Passage.

8. Kali River Rapids

Also found in Disney’s Animal Kingdom is a thrilling attraction that is enjoyed by some guests, but considered to be highly overrated by many. Kali River Rapids is a family raft style adventure down the Chakranadi River where guests learn the importance of conservation through witnessing deforestation firsthand. While there are plenty of beautiful sights along the way and some big thrills in the form of choppy waters, twists and turns, and one substantial drop, many guests opt to skip this experience while in the Disney Park. This is largely in part due to the fact that there is absolutely no predicting who will get soaked on Kali River Rapids- and by soaked, I mean drenched. Typically one guest per raft gets the biggest splash from the large drop and there is no rhyme or reason to whom that might be, so many guests opt to skip the experience to avoid being drenched for the remainder of their time in Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
