Back in November, Los Angeles County passed an ordinance that required many businesses to require patrons to show proof of vaccination if they wanted to enter. The ordinance was met with a lot of backlash, but city leaders felt it was a necessary step in trying to control COVID numbers in the county. The ordinance covered places like theme parks (Universal Studios Hollywood), bars, gyms, restaurants, and more, including the Walt Disney Concert Hall.
Unfortunately, the Omicron variant is quickly spreading throughout LA County, and COVID case numbers have increased more than 100 percent in the past couple of weeks. As a result of the large uptick in infections, some locations are going one step further than just requiring proof of vaccination.
Beginning January 17, The Walt Disney Concert Hall, as well as four other venues in the area, will begin to require patrons to show full proof of vaccination, plus proof that they have received their booster shot.
The Walt Disney Concert Hall website states the following:
*Booster Requirement
Starting January 18, all audience members who are eligible must have received a COVID-19 booster dose in addition to being fully vaccinated in order to attend performances.
- Moderna recipients ages 18-plus and Pfizer recipients ages 16-plus are eligible for a booster 6 months after their second vaccine dose.
- Johnson & Johnson vaccine recipients ages 18-plus are eligible for a booster 2 months after their initial vaccine.
- For more information, please see the CDC’s guidance on boosters here.
The new booster policy allows a one-month grace period to schedule and receive a booster dose upon becoming eligible. After one month has passed, entry will not be allowed until a booster has been received.
Go to MyTurn.CA.gov to make your vaccination appointment.
Due to the fact that the concert hall will only be allowing those who are fully vaccinated and boosted to attend events, no children under 5 will be allowed in the concert hall since they are not yet eligible to become vaccinated.
Other venues that will also require proof of vaccination and booster are the Ahmanson Theater, the Music Center, the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, and the Mark Taper Forum.
