Universal Reveals First Major Epic Universe Addition Since Opening

When Epic Universe opened in May 2025, Universal Orlando Resort delivered one of the most ambitious theme park projects ever built in the United States.

Five immersive lands, groundbreaking attractions, and an entirely new theme park instantly transformed the Orlando tourism landscape. For many guests, Epic Universe felt complete from day one.

But Universal clearly doesn’t see it that way.

Just over a year after opening the gates, the company has announced what may be the first major addition to Epic Universe since welcoming its first guests. The new offering won’t require massive construction walls or years of development, but it addresses one of the biggest requests fans have had since opening day.

Epic Universe is finally getting the nighttime spectacular many visitors expected from the beginning.

Universal Celestial Goodnight Arrives This Summer

Universal Orlando has officially announced Universal Celestial Goodnight, a new nighttime spectacular debuting July 7 inside Celestial Park.

The production will combine synchronized fountains, lighting effects, music, and fireworks to create a nightly finale celebrating the worlds of Epic Universe.

According to Universal, guests will see moments inspired by Super Nintendo World, How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic, and Dark Universe. The experience is designed to serve as the park’s final sendoff each evening.

For many fans, the announcement feels overdue.

While Epic Universe immediately impressed visitors with its attractions and themed environments, some guests noted that the park lacked the kind of signature nighttime entertainment that often defines a full-day theme park experience.

That gap officially disappears on July 7.

Months of Clues Led to This Moment

The announcement didn’t exactly come out of nowhere.

Long before Epic Universe opened, concept artwork frequently showed fireworks exploding above Celestial Park. Guests also noticed a dedicated launch area built into the park’s central lagoon system.

As opening approached, reports surfaced that Universal had conducted fireworks testing around the property. The company later began hiring pyrotechnics technicians and installing additional infrastructure around the park.

Fans spent months speculating about when a nighttime spectacular would finally arrive.

Now Universal has confirmed those suspicions were correct.

A Massive Production for a New Park

Universal appears to be treating Celestial Goodnight as a major addition rather than a simple fireworks presentation.

The company says the show will utilize nearly 600 synchronized lighting fixtures, more than 350 fountains, and approximately seven million LED lights throughout Celestial Park.

That scale places the production among the most technologically advanced nighttime offerings Universal has ever created.

The combination of water effects, lighting packages, music, and fireworks also fits perfectly with Celestial Park’s role as the visual centerpiece of Epic Universe.

Unlike traditional theme park hubs that primarily serve as pathways between lands, Celestial Park was specifically designed to be an attraction in its own right.

A nighttime spectacular gives the area an entirely new purpose after dark.

Epic Universe Continues to Evolve

Perhaps the most interesting part of the announcement is what it says about Universal’s long-term plans.

Epic Universe may be only a year old, but Universal is already investing in new experiences designed to keep the park evolving.

That’s important because the resort has repeatedly emphasized that Epic Universe was built with future growth in mind. Large sections of nearby property remain available for future attractions, lands, and entertainment offerings.

While Universal Celestial Goodnight isn’t a new roller coaster or themed land, it represents something equally significant.

It shows that Universal isn’t content to leave Epic Universe exactly as it opened.

Instead, the company is already building toward the park’s next phase.

For fans who have been waiting to see how Universal would expand and enhance its newest theme park, Celestial Goodnight may be the first sign that the process has officially begun.
