Universal Orlando Announces Closure For Extended Period
Universal Orlando has shut down one of their parks due to weather.
Universal Orlando Resort is home to two theme parks, Universal Studios Florida and Universal’s Islands of Adventure, as well as a popular water park called Volcano Bay. Each Universal Park is full of diverse and exciting attractions for guests of all ages and sizes.
One of the big “perks” of traveling to Universal Orlando Resort is that it is “summer” nearly all year round. Of course, this park is located in Florida, which typically only has a handful of days where the weather is below freezing each year. Florida’s weather is known for sudden and unpredictable changes such as rain, cold weather, hurricanes, etc.
However, inclement weather has caused Universal to make a change to its water park.
Universal has decided to close Volcano Bay due to the weather. Volcano Bay will be closed from December 28 until December 30, according to the announcement from Universal.

Universal guests are encouraged to check the park’s official website or mobile app for real-time updates on park closures and re-openings during inclement weather.
When severe weather conditions, such as lightning storms or high winds, threaten the safety of park guests and employees, Universal Orlando Resort makes the difficult but necessary decision to close specific attractions or even entire parks temporarily. This decision prioritizes the well-being of all guests and staff. During lightning storms, certain outdoor attractions will be stopped for guests’ safety.
In some cases, guests who have purchased tickets for Volcano Bay on a day when it is closed due to weather may be eligible for rescheduling their visit or receiving a refund. The policies regarding rescheduling and refunds may vary and can be found on the park’s official website or by contacting guest services.
While it is strange for Volcano Bay to be closed for an extended period, Universal will reopen once the weather conditions have improved. Universal Orlando Resort will announce the reopening of Volcano Bay on the official website and guests can follow Universal’s official X page.
