As hurricane season approaches, Universal Orlando Resort is once again gearing up to ensure the safety and well-being of its guests, Team Members, and properties.
With a commitment to providing unforgettable experiences while maintaining the highest safety standards, Universal Orlando has developed a comprehensive hurricane preparedness plan that covers every aspect of the operation.
Universal Orlando stays connected with weather monitoring services, including the National Hurricane Center, to stay informed about the latest developments in potential storm systems. The resort’s team of meteorologists and experts closely analyze weather patterns to make informed decisions well in advance. At this point, Universal Orlando remains open during the storm.
Universal Orlando is home to two theme parks: Universal Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios Florida. Each Universal theme park includes attractions for guests of all ages and sizes. Guests planning to go to the parks during the storm will have several options to stay dry with shows and attractions.
The safety of guests and Team Members is Universal Orlando’s top priority. As the hurricane approaches, Universal takes steps to ensure that guests are well-informed about the situation and any potential impacts on their visit. This may involve offering flexible cancellation policies or the option to reschedule visits. For employees, clear protocols are in place to ensure their safety and the safety of their families.
Mayhem posted on X (formerly known as Twitter) that Universal Orlando has already removed the Universal Halloween Horror Nights medallion located at Universal Studios Florida. In addition, many other items from Halloween Horror Nights have been removed. With Hurricane Idalia arriving soon, theme parks in Florida will be making tough decisions on whether to stay open, close completely, or close early.
The medallion has been removed, I assume for the storm.

Many believe that these features being removed point to Halloween Horror Nights being canceled, but nothing has been confirmed from Universal at this time. If there is a cancellation, Universal will let guests know in a prompt manner and you’ll be able to talk with Universal Guest Services about affected tickets.
After the Hurricane has passed and it’s safe to do so, Universal Orlando focuses on recovery and, if closed, reopening. Inspections are conducted to ensure that all areas are safe for guests and Team Members. Universal Orlando is committed to delivering exceptional experiences and remains steadfast as it works to restore operations as quickly as possible.
Disney Dining will keep you updated on the latest Hurrican Idalia developments related to both Walt Disney World Resort and Universal Orlando Resort.
