Trump Slams ‘The View,’ Suggests Network Could Pull the Plug Over Recent Comments
The political landscape in the United States has always been a battleground for heated debates, and when it comes to talk shows, few platforms have played a role as crucial as The View. Over the years, the daytime show has become synonymous with unfiltered opinions, passionate discussions, and the occasional controversy. As the hosts navigate current events, they often find themselves at the center of criticism, both from the public and prominent figures.

One individual who has consistently found himself in the spotlight due to his contentious relationship with the hosts of The View is none other than former President Donald Trump. While The View has had its fair share of political sparks over the years, Trump’s most recent clash with the show’s co-hosts is drawing significant attention. On the heels of controversial statements and sharp criticisms from The View, Trump is once again speaking out—and his words are as intense as ever.
Since its debut in 1997, The View has tackled some of the most contentious issues of the day, and the women who host it have never shied away from expressing their personal views. The show has brought together individuals with a variety of political stances, from the liberal to the conservative, making it a unique platform for public dialogue.

However, this diversity has also led to friction, particularly between Trump and some of its outspoken co-hosts.
In the past, The View hosts Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar have been at the forefront of Trump’s critics. Their pointed remarks and pointed critiques of his actions have earned them both passionate praise from some quarters and fierce backlash from others.
Even more conservative voices like Ana Navarro and Alyssa Farah Griffin have shared their own less-than-flattering views of the former president. The clash between Trump and the show’s hosts has never been subtle, but recent comments have once again set the stage for a dramatic showdown.
A Tense Exchange
The latest drama erupted following a remark Trump made during a recent interview. On July 22, 2025, Trump leveled a shocking accusation against former President Barack Obama, claiming that Obama had “tried to lead a coup” and accusing him of treason. This startling statement didn’t go unnoticed, and as expected, it sparked a fiery reaction from The View co-host Joy Behar.
Behar’s response was nothing short of scathing. She mocked Trump, claiming he was “jealous” of Obama because Obama possessed qualities Trump allegedly did not—specifically referencing Obama’s appearance, intellect, marriage, and musical talent.
“The thing about him is he’s so jealous of Obama, because Obama is everything that he is not: Trim, smart, handsome, happily married, and can sing Al Green’s song ‘Let’s Stay Together’ better than Al Green. And Trump cannot stand it. It’s driving him crazy.”

Her comments didn’t stop there. She went further, alluding to the fact that Obama had not been the one guilty of treason, despite Trump’s earlier claims. Behar pointed out, “First of all, who tried to overthrow the government on Jan. 6. Who was that again? That was not Obama.”
As expected, Behar’s comments reached Trump. In a fiery response, he didn’t hold back in his condemnation of the show. Trump’s spokesperson told Entertainment Weekly:
“Joy Behar is an irrelevant loser suffering from a severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome,” and claimed that the show has “hit the lowest ratings” in recent years.
The statement continued, adding that Behar “should self-reflect on her own jealousy of President Trump’s historic popularity before her show is the next to be pulled off air.”
The head of the Federal Communications Commission also commented on what Behar said.
“Look, it’s entirely possible that there’s issues over there. And stepping back, this broader dynamic, once President Trump has exposed these media gatekeepers and smashed this facade, there’s a lot of consequences. I think the consequences of that aren’t quite finished.”
Ratings and Retaliation
While Trump’s comments about Behar and The View have made headlines, there’s more to the story. The ongoing feud between Trump and the show’s hosts goes beyond just political disagreements—it’s also tied to a battle over media influence and public perception.
Despite Trump’s claims about The View’s ratings, an ABC spokesperson for the show was quick to offer a rebuttal. They pointed to the show’s impressive ratings growth, particularly in the coveted demographic of women aged 18-49.
According to the ABC spokesperson, The View has seen a noticeable uptick in viewers:
When reached for comment, a View spokesperson did not address Rogers’ statement, but did respond to claims about the show’s ratings, pointing to figures noting that The View “is up in total viewers and women 18-49, versus the comparable weeks last season, to its most-watched in four years” and “season to date, The View is ranking No. 1 in households and total viewers among all network daytime talk shows and news programs for the fifth straight season.”
The Broader Context
It’s not just Behar and Goldberg who have been at odds with Trump over the years. As previously mentioned, the former president has also had a contentious relationship with other members of the media. From lawsuits against ABC to disputes with various journalists, Trump has often found himself entangled in public battles with prominent media figures.
One notable example was Trump’s defamation lawsuit against ABC and Good Morning America host George Stephanopoulos. The suit stemmed from an incident in which Stephanopoulos referred to Trump as “found liable for rape,” when Trump had actually been found liable for sexual assault. Ultimately, Disney — ABC’s parent company — settled with Trump for $16 million. This history of legal disputes and ongoing media clashes has only added fuel to the fire in the long-standing tensions between Trump and the networks he accuses of unfairly attacking him.
Additionally, the firing of ABC journalist Terry Moran earlier this year has only intensified Trump’s scrutiny of the network. Moran was let go after he sent out a tweet in which he called Trump and his deputy chief of staff, Stephen Miller, “world-class haters.” Moran stood by his comments, calling them “accurate and true,” but it was his firing that made waves, adding another layer of controversy to the relationship between Trump and ABC.
Do you think The View should be held accountable for its outspoken criticism of Trump, or do they have the right to voice their opinions as public figures? Is Trump too focused on media criticism, or are his remarks about the show justified? Share your thoughts in the comments below, and stay tuned for more developments in this ongoing saga.
