In a recent incident at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, hundreds of Walt Disney World Resort guests found themselves in a situation requiring immediate evacuation. An unknown emergency prompted the evacuation of the entire Toy Story Mania! building. Guests reported a sudden alarm and the sight of emergency lights flickering throughout the area.
A social media user who experienced the evacuation shared their thoughts on Reddit: “Could see red lights across the walkway in between some buildings… really impressed with how fast the cast members and guest cooperated.”
The red lights indicated an emergency response but not necessarily a true medical or building emergency. Fire departments always respond to emergency alarms at Walt Disney World Resort, even if Disney cast members know the alarms are false.
Walt Disney World Resort never publicly acknowledged the incident, but Toy Story Mania! reopened soon after it shut down. The ride was operating normally at the time of this article’s publication.
Toy Story Mania! at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Known for its engaging 4-D experience, Toy Story Mania! ride immerses guests in the whimsical world of Toy Story (1995). Initially introduced in the park as Toy Story Midway Mania!, it’s the oldest attraction in Toy Story Land.
Toy Story Mania! opened as a groundbreaking interactive experience, integrating arcade game elements as guests compete in a series of fun virtual challenges. The ride was originally part of Pixar Place, but Walt Disney Imagineers reconstructed its queue to begin in Toy Story Land.
Versions of this attraction exist in Disney California Adventure Park at Disneyland Resort and Tokyo DisneySea at Tokyo Disney Resort. Each variant carries its own charm, yet the original remains a crowd favorite, exhibiting unique characteristics that appeal to a diverse audience.
