‘Toy Story’ Expanding Again After New Movie Releases in Theaters
Toy Story fans will be heading back to Andy’s room later this year thanks to two newly announced video game releases that celebrate the franchise’s long history across multiple generations of consoles.
Earlier this month, Digital Eclipse and Atari revealed Toy Story 3: Complete Edition, a remastered version of the acclaimed 2010 game adaptation, alongside Toy Story: Retro Roundup!, a collection of classic titles from the series’ early gaming years.

Atari’s official description for the remastered game states:
“Reopen the toy chest and saddle up as Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and Jessie in Toy Story 3 Complete Edition, a 3D adventure based on the hit 2010 animated film, Toy Story 3, now available for modern systems. Play through authentic moments from the movie in Story Mode, or drop into the wild west sandbox of Woody’s Roundup in Toy Box Mode, where you can customize your town and even play as Evil Emperor Zurg.”
Toy Story 3: Complete Edition launches on October 15 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
The second release, Toy Story: Retro Roundup!, gathers together several older games from across the franchise’s history. Atari describes the collection as follows:
“Step back into Andy’s room with Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and more classic characters in Toy Story: Retro Roundup! This five-game collection features console and handheld versions of four early Toy Story titles, as well as A Bug’s Life. All the games have been upgraded with new features, quality-of-life improvements, and an overflowing toy chest of behind-the-scenes content. Revisit the ‘90s and early 2000s hits you loved and share these titles with a new generation of Toy Story fans.”

Toy Story 5 Arrives This Week
The gaming announcements arrive as Pixar prepares to release Toy Story 5 on June 19.
Directed by Andrew Stanton, co-directed by Kenna Harris, and produced by Lindsey Collins and Jessica Choi, the sequel reunites Woody (Tom Hanks), Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), Jessie (Joan Cusack), and the rest of the gang for a new adventure focused on technology’s growing role in children’s lives.
The upcoming sequel also gives Jessie a larger role within the story. The character, first introduced in Toy Story 2 (1999), has remained a fan favorite for decades but now takes a more central position in the latest chapter of the franchise.
Meanwhile, Taylor Swift performs the film’s title song, “I Knew It, I Knew You,” which is inspired by Jessie’s story throughout the series. Watch the official trailer for the film below:
A Franchise That Keeps Growing
Since debuting in 1995, Toy Story has expanded into one of Pixar’s most successful properties. Beyond the main films, the franchise has spawned short films, television specials, video games, Disney Parks attractions, merchandise lines, and the theatrical spinoff Lightyear.
With the new film set to continue the story on the big screen and two new game releases celebrating the franchise’s past, 2026 is shaping up to be a significant year for fans of Woody, Buzz, and the rest of the toy box.
The film opens in theaters on June 19, while Toy Story 3: Complete Edition and Toy Story: Retro Roundup! both launch on October 15.
