Top 10 Alcoholic Beverages in Walt Disney World’s Animal Kingdom

Disney’s Animal Kingdom is one of my favorite parks to visit for both food and drink.  There are so many unique options in this theme park, and so many of them fit the theme of the park perfectly.  There are a lot to choose from, but here are the 10 that top my list:

10. Alcoholic Shave Ice at Harambe Market

While Shave Ice may not technically be a beverage, a hot Florida day will turn it into one pretty quickly.  Harambe Market is not always open, so you have to hit it at the right time to enjoy this fun & refreshing treat (& some super yummy food options too).  There are three versions on the menu:  Pina Colada with Parrot Bay Rum & Pina Colada over Shave Ice; Vodka Passion Fruit with Snow Leopard Vodka and Passion Fruit over Shave Ice; and Vodka Watermelon with Snow Leopard Vodka and Watermelon over Shave Ice.  Which is your favorite?

9. Yak Attack at Yak & Yeti Quality Beverages

Over in Asia you will find lots of Yak & Yetis . . . the restaurant, quick foods and the quality beverages.  The Yak Attack is found at the Quality Beverages location—which is to the side and behind the walk up window for the quick service.  It is a colorful location that fits perfectly into the atmosphere of Asia.  There is some covered & uncovered outdoor seating in the area.  The Yak Attack is a Mango Daiquiri—again fitting in perfectly to the theme.  Mango Daiquiri, Don Q Cristal Rum, and Wildberry flavors, nice & refreshing!

8. Dole Whip with Rum at Tamu Tamu Refreshments

The Dole Whip with Rum makes my list for nearly every location as it combines the fan favorite pineapple soft serve with rum.  You can choose from dark rum or coconut (I like coconut to compliment the pineapple flavor).

7. Himalayan Ghost at Thirsty River Bar & Trek Snacks

Back over in Asia we find the Thirsty River Bar & Trek Snacks at the base of Mount Everest, and this is where you will find another favorite drink, the Himalayan Ghost featuring Snow Leopard Vodka, Guava and Odwalla Lemonade.  Not to mention it is a really pretty pink drink, and a great treat to take into Rivers of Light with you.

6. Primeval Booze at Restaurantosaurus Lounge

A new lounge has popped up in Animal Kingdom in part of the Restaurantosaurus quick service restaurant.  In the evenings you can follow the sign to the lounge entrance where you can enjoy small “bites” like Buffalo Chicken Dip with house made chips.  But we are here to talk about the drinks.  And my choice from this lounge is the appropriately named Primordial Booze.  This one has 3 Olives Blueberry Vodka, Bols Blue Curacao and Odwalla Lemonade with lemon and pomegranate juices.

5. Rum Blossom at Pongu Pongu

Over in Pandora World of Avatar you will find the prettiest drink in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, the Night Blossom.  Pongu Pongu refreshment stand is always hopping with guests trying the non-alcoholic version of the Night Blossom, along with the alcoholic version, the Rum Blossom.  They are essentially the same drink with Bacardi Rum added to the Rum Blossom:  Bacardi Superior Rum with layers of Apple and Desert Pear Limeade topped with Passion Fruit Boba Balls.  And if you don’t care for the Boba Balls (like me) you can always ask for it without them.  Don’t forget to snap a photo of your Instagram worthy drink with the #mosswall as your backdrop.

4. Hawkes’ Grog Ale at Satuli Canteen

Not to have all of my choices be mixed drinks, I’m including the Hawkes’ Grog Ale found at Satuli Canteen in Pandora World of Avatar.  This is the green beer that fits into the other worldly bioluminescent atmosphere of Pandora.  The Hawkes’ Grog Ale is a draft beer described as “Fruity Hop with notes of Apricot and Peach.”

3. Jenn’s Tattoo at Nomad Lounge

Nomad Lounge attached to Tiffins Restaurant at the entrance to Pandora is one of the most relaxing places in Animal Kingdom park.  It combines a great atmosphere with some delicious small plates and drinks.  Legend has it (from the servers at Tiffins) that this drink is named after an Imagineer who gets a new tattoo to commemorate each place visited in the design process for Animal Kingdom.  That certainly fits into the Nomad atmosphere of welcoming travelers to share their stories.  This is a beautiful drink topped with flowers (totally Instagram ready)—and it is on the sweet side (which makes it a winner in my book).  Jenn’s Tattoo is made with Ketel One Vodka, Watermelon, Hibiscus, and Lime Juice.

2. Ngumu Jungle Juice at the Dawa Bar

The Dawa Bar in the African Harambe Village section of Animal Kingdom is a great place to take a break and enjoy a drink.  The covered outdoor seating features fans to cool you off on those humid Animal Kingdom afternoons.  The Ngumu Jungle Juice cocktail wins high marks from me because it features Jungle Juice, or POG (Passion Fruit, Orange & Guava).  It is combined with Snow Leopard Vodka and Bols Peach Schnapps for a great drink.

1. Lost on Safari at the Dawa Bar

We are staying right on our stool at the Dawa Bar for the number one choice for the Animal Kingdom:  Lost on Safari.  The perfect name for an Animal Kingdom drink.  If you are a fan of rum (and who isn’t) this is a great drink for you: Starr African Rum and Captain Morgan Original Spiced Rum with our refreshing Pangani Punch.  Pangani Punch is 3 parts Dole Pineapple Orange Strawberry Juice to 1 part Cranberry Juice.  This is the perfectly fruity, rummy combination to make it to the top of my list for alcoholic beverages at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
